    Dell P2314H hdmi to dvi not working from console


    I have a dell P2314H and ive tried troubleshooting many times but cant figure it out. my problem is that i connect the monitor to the xbox one s with and hdmi cable that has a dvi adapter, but i switch it on the screen just goes on and off the whole time.

    I can see that you are having trouble connecting your monitor to your Xbox One S. To better assist you, I would like to ask you a few questions:



    - Have you tried using a different HDMI cable or a different DVI adapter?

    - Have you checked the settings on your monitor and your Xbox One S to make sure they are compatible?

    - Have you tested your monitor with another device, such as a laptop or a DVD player, to see if it works properly?

    - Do you see any error messages or codes on your monitor or your Xbox One S when you try to connect them?

    Once we receive your answers to the questions above, we may suggest additional troubleshooting measures.

    Can't connect 360 to monitor

    The 360 does not require HDCP for gaming. It's only required for DVD or HD DVD playback. This is something of a moot point as the Dell 2209WA supports HDCP.



    HDMI to DVI may be an issue if the device on the other end has issues with errant signals. This can happen if the cable wired audio to DVI pins (it shouldn't, but anything's possible).



    Dell's documentation on the 2209WA indicates it'll accept all the "normal" HDMI signals - 480i/480p/576i/576p/720p/1080i/1080p. As a regular display it'll also accept all resolutions the 360 can output.



    Seems like the cable could be an issue. Best to try another, or an HDMI cable with an HDMI to DVI adapter.

    This doesn't seem to work. Something I've got wrong sorry, is it's actually outputting to DVI as I'm going from HDMI to a DVI monitor so it's detecting the DVI connection not the HDMI signal.

    I'm just dumbfounded with the fact that my Xbox 360 Slim seemingly works on any display except my personal Dell 2408WFP monitor (even though it worked 7 months previously), and any other DVI/HDMI device (including other 360s) work fine on the 2408WFP.

    It's like my 2408WFP monitor broke-up with my 360 Slim because it had an affair/cheated on it with the dell 2208WFPt monitor. >_<
