  1. Deletion of Captures on Internal Storage

I have a question in regards to how a company can legally access someone's private storage on the internal drive of a machine they paid hundreds for ? This is completely uncalled for Xbox !

I am fully aware as are many on here that captures uploaded to the network are subject to deletion after 90 days. This we may not have agreed to but unfortunately had to work with.

On the introduction of this many of us resorted to not uploading items for it would be safely stored on our internal storage. Utter bs!!

Recently many have seen a surge of captures disappearing, ones that have not been uploaded to the network, ones that don't come under the 90 day rule and several that have only been a few days old.

This, Xbox is a completely illegal intrusion of consumer rights and privacy !

And upon reading up on this disgraceful behaviour I have come to learn that this same situation was happening as far back as 2018. You clearly are aware of this and have done nothing to rectify the problem.

Myself and others want answers !

    :)

Are game captures on the Xbox Network ALSO saved to the console’s internal storage?

Hello Zach,my name is Marvina, I will be happy to help you.

I am very sorry for what you are going through, Yes, game captures on Xbox Network are also saved in the internal storage of the console.

In fact, screenshots are always saved to the console's internal storage, even if they are not uploaded to the Xbox network.

This means you can download game captures from your console even if you no longer have access to the Xbox network.

To download game screenshots from your console, follow these steps:

    Open the Guide.

    Select Capture and Share.

    Select All Captures.

Select the capture you want to download.

    Select Download.

Game screenshots will be downloaded to the "Captures" folder on your console.

If you want to delete game captures from your console, you can do so by following these steps:

    Open the Guide.

    Select Capture and Share.

    Select All Captures.

Select the capture you want to delete.

    Select Delete.

Deleted game captures will be permanently removed from your console.

These are basic solutions to these problems, but they can lead to a solution, remember that this is a public forum where we are players like you who want to help, good luck and happy day.

    Sincerely,
    Marvina.

Are game captures on the Xbox Network ALSO saved to the console’s internal storage?

"do captures save to the console’s internal storage regardless of whether or not they’re uploaded to the Xbox Network?"

All captures are initially stored on the console before they can be uploaded to the Xbox Network.

Only the captures you choose to be uploaded will be unless you choose automatic uploads in your Settings options.

Only uploaded captures (ie on the Xbox network) can be shared to your profile, clubs, etc.

There is a finite space for captures on the console so if space is all used up any further captures will overwrite the oldest captures.

Its possible to have a copy of a capture on the console as well as on the Xbox network but this limits your consoles storage for new captures. After uploading it's best to delete the console copy.

Xbox automatically clear local saved clips when they're 6 days old? How to turn off auto clearing?

    Hi Nucky Z

Check if you need to delete some clips etc to clear space on your console and Xbox Live network.

Press controller Nexus button to get >Guide> Capture & share>Recent captures>Show all to Manage captures on the console and the Xbox network.

The storage on the console only has a reserved amount available for captures, not all of the 1TB internal drive.

If the reserved space is full you need to clear some captures from the Internal drive or purchase a External drive, format it to NTFS and set it to the console capture location.

Why Can't I Delete Captures While Using Xbox.com?

Hi! You can't delete, because all captures stored on your internal hard drive. Trough the app you can delete just captures posted on Live.
