Hiya please please can someone help me

I'm not at all tech savvy .... I got my daughter an Xbox for Christmas and had nothing but problems with Microsoft accounts ever since.

We must have set up 5-6 over the last few months ... I just need to get them all deleted so we can start over.

I don't remember passwords to them all and can't get to speak to anyone at Microsoft to help me with this.

My daughter is currently loged into Roblox on one of the accounts so we can't access this throhgh a new one.

I'm beginning to loose the will to live haha .

Please can anyone help or advise or a quick way to delete all accounts.

    :)

Hello, if you start a new account all of the previous accounts info will not transfer to new account. Best thing to do is just delete the accounts from off of the console.

    • Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
    • Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.
    • Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.
You can always start a new account when ever you want to. I would suggest to write down the username, password and email of the new account. Also if you have a micosoft account you can add the new username as a child account that way you can manage what is allowed on the account.

If you have more questions please feel free to come back and ask!

    Hi Kelly,

Which Xbox console are you referring to - Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Series X|S? Please confirm the exact model so we can point you in the right direction.

Firstly, as mentioned, purchases, gift card balance etc. are limited to the account that it’s on - unfortunately, nothing can be moved between accounts. Of course, physical disk games, however, can be played on any profile and compatible console. Only digital games are tied to the account that it was purchased on.

To clarify, removing a profile from your Xbox console would only remove the account from the console itself. You can always reinstall it, or create a new one. Take care if/when keeping a note with account email addresses and passwords, as this risks your account more likely being compromised. I would suggest to try to remember passwords without writing them down if you’re able to, and use strong passwords with a different one for each website. It’s also recommended to enable additional security features, such as 2FA (two-factor authentication/two-step verification) - more on this Here

To remove a profile from your Xbox console (Xbox One/Series X|S):

Add or remove a Microsoft account on an Xbox console | Xbox Support

    Or if on Xbox 360:

How to add or remove an Xbox profile on Xbox 360 | Xbox Support

One option you may want to consider is to keep the account with the purchased game(s) then set the console as the Home Xbox, which I recommend. This would allow your daughter to access games and any available subscription(s) (from the other account) on her profile. Keep in mind though, you can only have one Xbox set to Home Xbox per each individual account at any one time. You’re also only allowed up to 5 switches a year. This feature isn’t available on Xbox 360 - only Xbox One and Series X|S. A guide on this here:

Designate a home Xbox | Xbox Support

If you do decide to delete the Microsoft accounts in question, then be sure to read the advice and suggestions under “Before you close your account” here:

How to close your Microsoft account | Microsoft Support

Especially cancel any subscriptions, spend any remaining balance, backup important data etc.

Xbox accounts are connected to your Microsoft account (essentially the same). So if/when you close the account, this would delete your accounts and data for all other Microsoft products and services (Outlook, Skype, Onedrive etc.) that you use on this account. Unfortunately, you can't just delete an account for one of these services, everything associated with it will also be deleted.

Once you delete your account, you have 60 days to reopen it, in case you change your mind. After 60 days, your account will be permanently deleted and there's no way to recover or reactivate it again. A support guide which explains this:

Reopen your Microsoft account | Xbox Support

Also, Inactive accounts are deleted - so if you don't use it for a certain amount of time, it would eventually be deleted anyway. You need to sign in to your account at least once every two years to keep it active (with some exemptions). Refer to Microsoft account activity policy

You may also want to manage your daughter’s privacy settings/online safety and preferences, as a parent. I’ve added this as it may be of interest to you.

Please note most of us here are just regular community volunteers and fellow gamers here to help on the forum, and not Microsoft employees or affiliated to Microsoft in any way. We can only advise, and because of privacy/limited abilities, no one here can access accounts. This is explained in the forum FAQ here

It would be best to contact support as they can advise on what to do here. Alternatively, you can go through Microsoft support (different support portal but you’ll reach the same team). Once you get to the virtual support agent select ‘Xbox’ or ‘Microsoft account’ in the product list and ‘other account issues’ as the issue, then select live chat or request a call back. The contact options will show the estimated wait time/queue. Some contact options may be temporarily unavailable - If this is the case, try adjusting the options to speak to someone or try again later. This depends and varies on your country/region and time of day/time zone, as well as the reason for contact (to prioritise) and how busy the team is/the volume of support requests at the time.

You can also reach out to support through Twitter

    @XboxSupport or @MicrosoftHelps

When contacting support, be sure to quote any relevant case reference numbers, service requests, order numbers etc. You’ll receive a case number for each conversation you have with support - this is mentioned in the chat, and in the email from them. You can use this number to check the status of your request. The support agent can then view any previous conversations with this reference so you don’t have to go through all the same questions and steps again. - So always make sure you get a reference number in case it’s needed later.

Hopefully this helps, thanks for reading! Post back if you have any further questions or concerns, I’m happy to clarify anything if needed. Here to help :)

    Thank u so much

The problem wasn't deleting the accounts from the Xbox the problem was deleting then from Microsoft.

As her games (Roblox) are linked to old accounts it means they are locked out to her new account. ... It's been a nightmare lol

    Thanks again 👍

Is there a way to prevent account deletion on the XBox One?

    Hello there,

Thank you for coming to the Xbox forums. Unfortunately, there is no setting to specifically stop people from deleting accounts on the Xbox one. Is the account that you created for your son a child account, or an adult account with child restrictions?
He has a child account, which has restrictions. However, he is able to bypass all restrictions by deleting every account and creating a new account (not the child account I created).
