1. Deleting an installed game.

I found that after I installed Borderlands 2 on my Xbox One that just over half of my hard drive is just over half full. I have The Witcher 3 coming. If I delete a game on my harddrive does it also delete my saved games? Is this the best way to make space?
Thanks for any help.

:)

2. Deleting an Installed Game

Yes it is safe to delete. When you go to memory, games, then select the game. There you will see Game Install, that one is safe to delete. It will be a big file (in GB) whereas game saves will be very small (between KB
and a few MB).

Deleting an Installed Game

I have a couple games installed on my hard drive and one of them is last years Madden game. Since the new one is out now I probably won't be playing the old one for a while so have no need to use up the hard drive space with Madden 11 installed. I know how
to delete it from the HDD but I'm worried it will delete everything with it including all my game progress and achievements, etc. Is it safe to delete a game from my HDD without it getting rid of all my games saves and whatnot? Thanks for your help.

Yes but they are stored in the cloud so you never lose them.

5. Your game data and your game saves are listed as different files on the X1. Once you get to the game management screen, you should see this. Also, there are 2 copies of your game saves. One is on the console's HDD, the other is on the cloud. You will only
lose your saves permanently if you delete both copies. Just don't delete the cloud copy and your saves will be fine.

6. Also, just thought I'd add a few thoughts that may help.

First, I think The Witcher 3 is around 35GB. If your HDD is just over half full, you should still have plenty of room for it, I'd say.

Ever considered getting an external HDD? I got a WD - 1TB My Passport Ultra for pretty cheap, just after they added support of external drives (which was around November if memory serves). It's working fine. I have all my games on it. JMO, but that is the
best way to make space.

7. "Is this the best way to make space?" - Jerry Raybuck

IMO the best way to make space would be adding an external HDD as mentioned in the post above...

Hello "Jerrry Raybuck" Deleting an installed game. :)

From what I've heard (since I haven't bought an External HDD yet), it seems that the ideal way to go is to install all of your games to the External HDD because if you Xbox One console goes bad, all you have to do is plug your HDD to the repalaced or repaired
Xbox One and game immediately.

However, if the games are on your Xbox One HDD, that means you have to re-install all of them all over again if you didn't get your own console back.

During the Red Ring Of Death era of the Xbox 360, there was always a good chance that you would never get your console back and instead get another repaired console in its place.

Have a nice day or afternoon or night "Jerry Raybuck" Deleting an installed game. :)

9.
Yes but they are stored in the cloud so you never lose them.
How much space does Microsoft give you on the One for Cloud Saves?

On the 360 it was only 512mb. I find it hard to believe they would be providing an infinite amount of space for the One.

So if the space becomes full then at some point you could be losing saves.

Vaynel asks an interesting question, just how much space do we get on The Cloud?

Up to yet I've never heard of anyone having trouble losing saves. I've re-downloaded plenty of older titles and my saves have always been there.

Surely there must be a limit though?

11. With 500,000+ servers worldwide (and growing), I'm sure we're not going to have to worry about space. Deleting an installed game. ;)

Deleting an installed game.

Unlike Xbox 360, on Xbox 1, game saves are saved to Xbox Live aka the internet aka this Cloud aka Azure servers aka the 300,000+ Xbox Live servers for Xbox 1.

To delete a game, just go to the game or your settings and manage storage, and their should be Dashboard options to uninstall it. Your game SAVE data for everything is stored on Xbox Live so no need to worry about it. The Dashboard may still show the game
and have options like install. What you can do about it is using the Dashboard, there's usually the option to Hide Game or something, which takes it away from view off the console. Don't ask me, the console is based off Windows 8 thingy. I have a Seagate slim
1TB external HDD which comes with a 3 year retail/manufacturer warranty from Seagate. I only have like 12GB free left on my Xbox 1 console. Especially when the system uses over 100GB of the 500GB 5400rpm HDD, that's over a 1/5th of the space. What a resource
hog.

14. The save files may be small but when you have millions of customers uploading them, for a pretty decent selection of games, that space taken will soon mount up to something significant.

So yes there are a lot of servers, though we don't know what storage capacity they have and they aren't just being used for keeping saves.

The question I think is a fair one. Just how much space do we get for saves on the cloud with the Xbox One.

Edit: The biggest save files I've ever encountered was for Dragon Age: Origins at 17mb each.

FYI I got the Seagate slim HDD from JB Hi Fi. Australian and NZ members would know this retailer. It's like a really slim and sleek 1TB 3.0 external HDD. I love it. If anything mechanical goes wrong in the next 3 years (I got it early this year), I can just
take it back to JB to get it resolved.
