Deleting all content associated with a particular game

    Hello,

I would very much like to remove all traces of a particular game from my profile. Meaning I would like any and all data attached to my profile associated with the game gone, including achievements and awards. At this point I see no point in providing further
details as to which game or why I want the associated data deleted are. Suffice to say I have my reasons, which are valid to me and I’ll share with someone who can actually help me. I don’t expect everyone to share my obsessive tendencies, however please be
    respectful.

I’m given to understand there is some concern with the prospect of inflating gamerscore in deleting achievements. As I have no intention of ever playing said game again this would not be an issue, however I see no reason why the point value of the achievement
I would like erased could not be deducted from my total (honestly I’d prefer it).

I assume the data for a user’s gamerscore is stored independently from the data corresponding to the achievements as the numeric value only changes when an achievement is earned or, in the case of someone violating the terms of use, reset to zero. With this
in mind I understand that fulfilling such a request would be an inconvenience, however I cannot stress what it would mean to me.

Therefore I would appreciate be directed to someone who could either fulfill such a request or someone who could explain why such a request is not possible, ideally someone familiar with how Microsoft stores user data. In addition to legitimately wanting
this done I’m now also really curious as to how the system works.

I understand that similar request have been made in the past, likely to no avail, but as it really is bothering me I had to ask.

    Thank you kindly.

    :)

Odd. Try deleting the existing profile (profile only; not content associated with it) and download the profile again.

Deleting all content associated with a particular game

    Hi Lone Canis,

Unfortunately there is no way this can be done. The only games which can be removed from your game history are ones where you have zero unlocked achievements and zero gamerscore, and that can be performed manually yourself on the Xbox 360 (open achievement
list, highlight the game, it will tell you which button to press to delete). If you have unlocked any achievements or accumulated any gamerscore in a title it will remain on the profile (except in the case of profile tampering with the intention of increasing
gamerscore, where it is totally reset to zero - although even then the system still remembers which achievements were unlocked, as someone who has had their gamerscore reset can never re-earn the same achievements).

Sorry this reply is a little long-winded, but I hope this helps explain the situation.

    Maxen13,

Thank you for your reply. I am familiar with the standard answer from Microsoft, I know the limitations of what I can do. The information I want removed is presumably on Microsoft's servers, therefore I would need the assistance of someone employed at Microsoft.
I’m more asking if it’s possible for someone with access and proper authorization to make such changes.

If it truly is impossible, I would like someone familiar with the system Microsoft uses to explain why. If Microsoft owns the server they store this information on, why can’t they alter it?

If it is possible I’d like the opportunity to petition someone who can make these changes to do so. I would have preferred to directly e-mail someone at Microsoft but apparently that isn’t an option.

    Thanks.

as the others said once you earn a score you cannot remove it there is NO way to have it removed unless you mod your score in that case ALL your score gets removed. all you can do is delete the game and saves off your system but you cannot remove any achievements
associated with that game sorry. you can wait for a response from support (they do post here and have Official Support in their game card at the bottom) but they will tell you the same thing.

Thank you davemcfly85, but I’d really like to know why it can’t be altered. I understand that I cannot alter aspects of my profile in such a way, but I still don’t understand why it would be impossible for someone on Microsoft’s end.

My programming experience is limited, but I’d assume things like achievements would be associated with some sort of Boolean variable that initially is set false and upon fulfillment of some condition is changed to true. Now from doing some reading it’s my
understanding that with certain third party programs (thus violating Microsoft’s Terms of Use) achievements can be unlocked or locked artificially. To me this indicates that the state of whatever variable controls the status of an achievement can be altered
despite the governing conditions not being met. I’m not condoning using such programs, I’m just trying to use their capabilities to understand how the system works.

Obviously, since achievements can be earned offline and then added to a profile once the 360 is connected to Xbox Live, the condition of an achievement can be modified from false to true (essentially the achievement is unlocked and saved on the server).
Even if the server could only accept a command write true to whatever variable governs the status of an achievement, why couldn’t the user disconnect from Live while someone at Microsoft alters the data on the server after which the user would delete their
profile locally off their 360 before connecting online to recover their profile?

I’m not saying it would be simple, or that anyone at Microsoft would be willing to do it, I just don’t understand why it would be impossible. I get that it’s not the way the system was designed to work but I would really appreciate it if someone could take
the time to explain why it can’t be done.

    Thanks.

I guess its a simple matter of

"they dont want to because if its done a single time they would be flooded with requests"

as bad as it sounds, you wont recieve any other message than "its not possible"

Prideloss, that’s another argument altogether and not one I particularly want to get into.

At this point I want an answer as to how the system works almost more than I want the actual content removed. If it really is impossible I just want to know why.

While I appreciate the majority of the responses from the community, I’d really like to hear from someone who works for Microsoft. Even a response from someone at Microsoft telling me they aren’t willing to disclose that information would be better than
    no reply at all.

    Hello, Lone Canis.

Thank you for your inquiry and responses thus far. I will attempt to explain the process to the best of my ability and I hope it provides you with the proper guidance.

All information for an account (Xbox Live achievements, purchased games, Xbox Live subscriptions or Xbox Live gift cards) is stored within the users Microsoft Account. The Microsoft Account is the email address used to sign in to your account. This is by
design such that information can follow the user to different platforms where a Microsoft Account is required at sign in such as Games for Windows Live or Windows 8 products. This allows seamless transition between platforms where user information can populate
user specific information like recently played games to stored music or achievements and subscriptions. It truely is an "all-in-one" design where a user is not required to have multiple accounts for each platforms that require a Microsoft Account for sign
    in.

However, I am aware that if someone were to (unauthorized) access an account to purchase game(s) and earn achievements on them it can be an eyesore to look at that particular game and/or unlocked achievement especially on a game purchase made out of the
    user's control.

Many users ask why the Xbox Team members are unable to remove an achievement from a game or why they can't remove a game from their download history; be it a game that they don't like or hardly play anymore which does sound fair. It is due to the design
of the system that any and all purchased games and any and all unlocked achievements are stored in the Microsoft Account for all users. These items cannot be relieved from the Microsoft Account.

Achievements earned offline are removed from the account as soon as the account is signed in to Xbox Live or is downloaded from Xbox Live to a console. To clarify, achievements earned offline are stored to a user's local profile (to the hard drive). An account
cannot connect to Xbox Live without a Microsoft Account. Once the account connects with a Microsoft account it is force updated and synced to the service where the achievements are then refreshed, activated to then begin storing and updating achievement data
    unlocked over time.

As you have researched (great research by the way) achievements can only be removed per Terms of Use or Code of Conduct violation. I know you don't want to go down this path, but although this would resolve the issue, it has negative impact for the account
such that while on xbox.com the account will forever have a water mark stating very similarly to, "this account's Gamerscore has been reset due to cheating." I do not have an exact answer as to why Team Xbox cannot do the same for another account just without
adding the "water mark". It may be do to the fact that the Enforcement Team are the only folks who have access to the tool and there may be no alternative program to use to do it if that makes sense. There may be no other variation of the program other than
the one the Enforcement Team uses for enforcement.

If possible, I encourage you to contact Xbox Support at 1-800-469-9269 (1-800-4MY-XBOX) to discuss the matter further with phone support. Please ask if anything else can be done as it seems that forum support is not dealing you the right cards. Compare the
answers you receive through phone support to the answers we have given to you within the forums. Also, mention if you would like the account deleted or if you just plan to not use it anymore. They may ask that you remove all personal information from the account.

    Thank you for your time.

  11. what is the problem with Microsoft to not let you delete your achievement if you want to, like the let you if you have no score on the game or have not unlocked anything so why can't they if you have like one point or less then 10 i agree with you what
    is the big deal?

my issue is similar as well in that a game the was previously available and then some thing expired or something changed i am talking about you wolfenstine 3d and now when you reload it it its consider a different game as far as your game score is concerned.
its just annoying and if they are ever wondering my the retro market is so popular its small things like that, which irritate the end user, further more i don't want to say much more because why better product that doesn't better the user, in short Microsoft
stop doing things or letting things be annoying to the paying costumer yes some of us have OCD when it comes to these sort of things, if you want to look at it that way and just like to have a clear game score list if we choose too, more so if its games that
are no longer supported at least let it default if that is the case to 100 % something is better then nothing ...these little things although might not seem to affect the bigger picture in the long run from dedicated gamers like myself it does affect weather
or not to get that next game to buy that next dlc game, because of that issue, so come on just make it happen not excuses why it can't... Peace !
