  1. Delayed Connection to Wifi on Xbox One S

I wanted to create a new thread for this problem. I noticed when I turn on my Xbox S from energy saving mode it usually takes about 10 seconds to connect to my wireless network as my old Xbox One connected right away. Everything in my house including a PlayStation
4 connect right away with no issue. I tried switching from 5ghz to the 2.4ghz band, resetting my modem and router, a hard reset on the Xbox One, unplugged the external hard drive and I get the same result. I went into settings and noticed that it says connection
wired then switches to wireless once it connects which is usually about 10 seconds or so. I also get the varied download speeds as my wireless speeds are usually in the 80's and the Xbox One are in the 3 or 4's. I kinda wish I never upgraded.

    :)

    Windows 10 streaming without TV?

there is a delay over wifi but it works. you can speed things up by connecting your xbox and laptop via wire to your router.

    Thanks for clarifying J2TheL.

Do you currently have any USB devices plugged into your Xbox One or is it sitting solo? If you have any USB devices plugged in, try removing them and power cycling to see if there's any change with connecting. Also, are you by chance part of the Xbox One
    Preview Update?

  7. I too recently have had some issues on a new XBOX One S. We have two XBOX's in the house. One XBOX One, and one XBOX ONE S. We both like to use our 5GHz band as it seems to download and run better. However, the XBOX ONE S seems
to be somewhat "flaky" when it comes to connecting to the 5GHz band. It says that it's connected, but sometimes I'll get errors saying to check my network settings when I try to play GTA 5 Online, and any of the COD games when using XBOX Live with other players.
However, when I use my 2.4GHZ band, everything seems to work well. Unfortunately, there's no way for me to hard wire these machines using CAT 5e or 6 cable, but I have thought about buying the option of using my power outlets as a "hardware option"; but
that doesn't always work as well as the 5GHz band. I don't have any Bluetooth or Wireless machines or peripherals in the rooms where the XBOX's reside. However, I do have 2 iPads, 3 iPhones and a Surface Pro and 4 other laptops in the house. Not on all
at one time. Here's my pertinent information:

    ROUTER: NETGEAR NIGHTHAWK R700

ISP: COMCAST XFINITY X1 Modem w/BLAST!

I'm guessing that I should think about using QoS so that the XBOX units get preferential treatment. Please advise! Delayed Connection to Wifi on Xbox One S :)
