Degraded video quality on Live TV

Wow. I am really disappointed. The picture quality is noticeably degraded when run through the XBOX One. I have the Xbox set to 1080p. My TV is a 2 yr old 46" Samsung LED. The Cable box is a modern Bell Fibe PVR.

I finally gave up and reconnected the cable directly to my TV - picture looked great again.

Now Xbox is giving me errors that it can't find the TV signal. Have no idea how to remove that connection pairing so that it no longer gives me an error.

In general, my first 3 hours with Xbox one involved restarted update downloads, force rebooting after frozen screens, freezing on a payment menu, and the amazingly cluttered, unintuitive UI. The whole voice thing, I thought was going to be amazing. I find
    it cumbersome.

    :)

Crushed Blacks, Improper color Gamut, Digital noise using TV with HDMI in

Has anyone at MS acknowledged these issues when using the HDMI in for TV? It is really obvious these are real problems when you compare the HDMI video signal to the original video signal coming out of the Cable box.

Picture quality is pretty clearly degraded passing through the Xbox one.

  3. Video Degraded - Direct TV

I have the same problem. Picture quality is horrible through the Xbox one compared to plugged in directly. I'm using a DirectTV HR44

My video quality is degraded, too. I have a 60" Panasonic GT50 and a Comcast Motorola cable box. I guess I'll have to switch mine back.

  6. My Panasonic GT50 (sorry only 50" lol), also looks worse with xbox one hooked up, plus I get a lot of channels that freeze up for about 10 seconds when I change to them, really frustrating as I really wanted this to work.

I'm having the exact same issue on my Panasonic 60" ST50 plasma. I had a Google TV a couple of years ago and i think it degraded the picture a bit as well. I returned it after a couple of days. I may do the same with this Xbox One. Voice commands and
    games work great though.

  8. Degraded video quality on Live TV

I had a Google TV for several years. I foresaw many of the issues the XB1 is going through due to my time that device. It did degrade picture quality to a small degree, the XB1 seems to be worse and it's actually changing on me. I've had to factory reset
it twice now, each time my TV picture quality looked different. The first time it was less sharp and very laggy. The second time there was serious lag and an orange tinge to Black's. Now after the third reset it's a little snappier but now I'm getting color
banding in my TiVos menus like really bad gradients.

If it's any consolation, Google TV's pass through picture quality improved overtime with updates and the XB1 has plenty of horsepower to do it right. Problem is Microsoft is striping system resources from non-gaming applications to aid in resolutiongate.
The next problem is every system update seems to break about as much as it improves. It will get better, hopefully without any serious hardware revisions.

  9. I, too, am bitterly disappointed with the picture quality of the Live TV feature. I have a Samsung HDR "Freesat" box (UK) which outputs 1080p. Pass it through the XBox and it looks worse than a standard def (576p) picture, more like 480p.

Put up with it for a day before plugging the sat box back (directly) into the TV.
