Definition of a core gamer?

GG, if my 86 year old neighbor only plays Solitaire, is she still considered a gamer? Think man, think!

If you don't own all the current systems and a gaming PC you're not a hardcore gamer

My personal definition of hard core gamer is: if you spend 20% of your free time gaming. For me that would be about 20 hours a week.

 

What is a "hardcore" gamer?

I think the definition of a hardcore gamer is a person who spends prolonged amounts of time gaming, eating a poor diet consisting of junk food and drink scattered within arms reach, and who does not take the time to take number two toilet breaks for days
at a time, therefore becoming constipated... Hence having gained a HARD CORE....

 

Hardcore gamers on that definition ^ couldn't be more accurate. Man I get my butt kicked left right and center by them. I have to say, I sound more like a core gamer too, rather than a casual.

 

True again bizzaro. But that doesn't change the fact that many hardcore gamers feel they are the core or are just confused about what core means. Hopefully this can help clear it up for them. Again thanks for the wiki

I'll stick to core gamer. For me mid=middle and core=center. Hence redundancy. Doesn't make sense to be in the middle of the middle. You're either in the middle or you're not.

 

A gamer is a gamer Hardcore or core shouldn't come into it i would think some one who owned various consoles would class as a serious gamer or core. But at the end of the day they just been around longer and lived longer. It's relevant, if you you got
to have a game score of 1000 on every game then you could say you are truly a hardcore gamer but this also come across as a addiction to trying to have the best game score on Live.

If you like and enjoy games then you are a gamer pure and simple......

 

I'm a bit like Randver as in I remember playing Pong in the 70's. I would describe myself as a gamer, period. I hate terms like hardcore and my pet hate one "pro". Although I don't move them to the knucklehead category, they go in my prat category.

I'm probably addicted to video games... lol. I play pretty much every night, but the one thing I've never done is given a **** what 'kind' of gamer I am. I've always been too busy having fun playing my most recent favorite game(s) to actually wonder what kind
of gamer it makes me.

In the end, is it really that important? I don't think so. TBH, and it's obviously JMO, but people who go around telling others that they're a 'hardcore' gamer, or a 'core' gamer or w/e are just looking for a reason to label themselves, in some attempt to
find validity, justification or perhaps stature in their hobby... or in some cases... habit. More power to them, if that's their thing, I guess. But it really means nothing to me.

I love playing my games. That's good enough for me, no matter what label I may or may not fall under.

 

Anybody who needs a label to describe themselves is a nerd gamer.

I play as much as most people on here but I don't even consider my self a gamer I just happen to enjoy playing video games. That's it. It's not a subculture it's a hobby.

 

I'm a gamer. Nothing more nothing less.

 

Thanks Blue. I think I've got what I was looking for. I used to feel the same as you until i started reading all these nonsense threads.From now on I will endeavor to go back to feeling that way. I never thought that I was labeling myself but that others
were miss labeling me. I see now that is essentially one and the same. After all how can you feel miss labeled unless in some part of your mind you've already labelled yourself.

 

I don't believe in "cookie cutter" labels, everything discussed here has a lot of subjectivity...
