Noooo... I hope they don't drop the TESO subs.

When DCUO went free to play the number of annoying idiots quadrupled overnight. I refuse to play with anyone that doesn't subscribe on there now (unless I know them or someone vouches for them), mind you, I've spent 3 yrs building up a decent friend list
for the game so I rarely bother with n00bs anymore.

    .

The same will happen to TESO... it'll be full of idiots, kids and trolls...

TESO won't go free to play.

They'll make a mint off the sales of the disc and anything they get on top of that from those fool enough to pay the greedy monthly sub will be gravy.

When people realise they're not getting "Online Skyrim" and being asked to continue to pay multiple times for the game they already bought they'll drop it like a stone.

They wont' cancel the sub but they will drop the subs price after a while and by the time they do it will be too little too late.

  3. They aren't being asked to pay multiple times for the game they already bought, they're paying for server upkeep and frequent additional content.

I've explained this to you before Az, but you don't seem to grasp the concept....

I'm vaporing trout btw, I sometimes find myself signed into the wrong email by accident.

As far as I know, and I stand to be corrected on this, there's no Xbox live passthrough involved when connecting to ESO. You are using Zenimax's service, not Microsoft.

Maybe we need some networking gurus in here to school us.

Well I've made a note not to come asking you for help on Elder Scrolls :-(

Has anyone seen anymore news on a release date? A few sites still saying June but I've seen a few saying to expect a delay.

Thanks for looking out for me.

I can only assume you were quite literally "born yesterday".

That the only context you have from which to view the video gaming world is your limited brief experience which began with the XBox 360.

Because for decades the cost of servers and additional content was covered by the purchase price of the game.

Before Publishers used the pressure of their advertising revenue to be allowed to condition people through gaming websites that "Online Passes" and "Day 1 DLC" were acceptable and claimed "2nd hand sales hurt Developers" costs were covered at the point of
    sale and they still are.

Ever since "World Of Warcraft" hit the jackpot with it's monthly subscription fee Publishers have been going mental over how to get people to pay more for the game they already own.

EA found success with online passes, ultimate team, micro-transactions and pay for in game advantage schemes but found even bigger success in the App Store which is why they've tried to employ that sort of method in Console Gaming (which has thankfully been
falling flat on it's face so far).

Bethesda themselves admit that they were floored over the amount of copies of "Skyrim" they sold.

They have made a mint of "Skyrim" and good for them because that's a great t game.

"The Elder Scrolls Online" however is nothing more than a social experiment run by Bethesda to see just how much money they can squeeze from their Customers.

I could live with a subscription fee but £60.00 for the game and then £9.00 per month after that is just greedy.

I don't mind Bethesda making a profit but I do mind Bethesda trying to fleece me.

Even the people who are paying the sub know they are being ripped off and they're just too lazy to take a stand on it.

You want to champion the cause of paying for stuff you don't have to because you didn't in the past then you are free to spend your money as you please.

But you knife your fellow gamers in the back when you tell companies it is acceptable for them to treat us like this.

  7. Az, I seriously hope you don't think the cost of server upkeep for a game like World of Warcraft, with its persistent online world and multiple regional servers and raids and the like, is anywhere near comparable to a P2P based multiplayer game like Battlefield
    or CoD.

You don't have to like or agree with the MMO business model but it's perfectly reasonable that they ask you to subscribe to play them. In fact I'd say Zenimax and Blizzard do a better job justifying their sub costs than MS do with Live.

In my opinion, the cost of the physical product itself it what should be reduced. It always bothers me that a physical copy of an MMO can cost as much as a single player game. On release anyway.

  9. Lol @ Az... Such a self righteous ignorant troll.

My gaming experience began with the 360?

In terms of Defiance the cost originally was buying the game on disc. Not technically free to play but pay once model.

By the sound of it the Defiance restrictions aren't bad considering leveling 1 character to the new cap of 5790 (soon to be 5860) is pretty tough.

The only thing that concerns me will be the amount of new guys in the Warmaster drops. I mean I'm not much use there because of the being too low a level to really have high damage but the damage buff + a damage spike + my insane 80 rounds in 5 seconds SMG
really does almost equal the damage of an actual good good when the buff runs. Also I work medic and organisation at the raid normally trying to keep the guys who have never done a warmaster in some kind of functional order.

There's enough of a problem with level 300 guys dropping in and breaking the locks early only to get creamed.

I can only imagine how hard it's going to be convincing a load of inexperienced free to play guys that waiting 15-30 minutes to get 27-37 people is worth it and required for the boos.

What is Destiny doing that hasn't been done before?

In some ways it looks similar to Defiance, just hope it doesn't become a disappointment like Defiance was (IMO)
