I suppose everyone can't like everything but though I wouldn't go as far as to question the sanity of anyone who didn't think "Defiance" was awesome I'd remember the name of anyone trying to blow it off as "nothing special" and file their gamertags under
"People to pay absolutely no attention to".

Your money's worth and more even if you paid full price.

 

once you play it, you will probably feel just like I do. the perfect game to be social and active with your friends with tons of action and with more friends than you have on your friends list. this game is just great man, I could not have asked for a better
game to play until destiny came out

 

That's the thing, I wouldn't end up playing with any friends as they dropped it within a week, which means solo, and MMO + solo sounds terrible.

Glad you're enjoying it though, I won't be jumping in anytime soon.

I'm not talking about you Z4Zone. I'm happy you like the game. Like I said in my OP......the fact that YOU like it is all that matters. Who gives a crap what I think. It's when people like AZRAEL come in here and act like their opinion is fact and if you
don't agree with him....then you're dead to him. Why bother coming to an OPEN forum to share opinions when the only opinion you're willing to listen to is your own. Very narrow minded. I only hope he doesn't have a wife and kids. Then again....who cares, right.

 

I have to admit I hated this game with a passion after working with the beta for a bit. I warded the game off until I had a friend who pretty much said take it or I am tossing it in the trash. Well I have jumped in and played about 2 hours and I got to say
it looks like a semi decent game now with some of the bug fixes and I am going to give it a chance at the cost of free. Maybe get some of the DLC down the line but I agree with the OP...Check this game out. Just don't buy it cause it's going F2P soon.

 

Hey Nappy, if you hadn't rolled into a "Defiance" appreciation thread insisting the game was poor and broken for no other reason than 'you said so' and actually listed some valid complaints about the game I could respect your opinioin.

But you didn't so it's hard to take you seriously.

You just come accross as a kid on a forum who's being contrary for the sake of it.

 

It's a shooter... how different/unique can it possibly be? I have a friend who plays it ALL THE TIME, and I can't tell if she enjoys it, or is just dead-set on getting the last achievement she needs for the game.

 

OK AZREAL, here's a more detailed reason as to why I found Defiance to be such a disappointment

1. For an MMO, It's an incredibly shallow experience. Where's the armor pieces and robust crafting system. I expect these things in an MMO.

2. Zero variety. The game looks exactly the same from beginning to end. You fight the same 3 enemy types the whole game. Only 2 vehicle types with the only variation between your vehicle and the thousands of others is a color palette.

3. Have you tried fighting a "boss" in this game. The game slows down to 3 FPS when more than 5 players get within a 10 mile radius from one another.

4. It's a poor man's Borderlands. Without any of the charm.

5. It's glitchy, laggy and just an overall underwhelming shooter that tries to be an MMO. It tries to attach a TV show to a video game in an attempt to intertwine plot twists between 2 different types of media. It's way too ambitious for it's own good. It's
a mish mash of great ideas thrown together into a mess of a game with 2 hour long patch updates every other day.

----I admire the developers vision. They've laid some pretty good groundwork for future console MMO's and that's to be celebrated, for sure. Defiance is.......dependable........ if the only thing you care about is playing with friends while you shoot stuff
in the face, but there's better places to do that. Borderlands for example. I simply said I didn't like the game and stated on numerous occasions to the OP that the fact that he liked it was the only thing that matters. What I didn't say is "This game blows
and if you don't agree with me than every opinion you ever have about anything is invalid."

Fancy armours would have been cool but at the end of the day the developers realised something very important about "Defiance": It's a Console Video Game. As such it offers a deep experience (you were even playing for ages yourself) but it was
also a game you could leave and go enjoy some other titles without the fear of falling hopelessly behind everyone else on the servers.

The weapons can be customised and crafted into better weapons so the crafting system might not have been as robust as WoW but it's definately there and needed to be undestood to take full advantage.

There are many different enemies. There's some re-skinning going on but for the most part the different enemies are quite diverse and unique. They behave differently and there are more than 2 types of vehicles as well. Quad bikes, cars and trucsk.
The transport is exactly that. Transport. You need it n a world that big.

3. Have you tried fighting a "boss" in this game. The game slows down to 3 FPS when more than 5 players get within a 10 mile radius from one another.

When the game released there was a little bit of chug at the Hellbug Arkfalls. But this was smoothed out quickly and only got better after successive patches. It sounds like your issue is more with your own poor broadband connection than with the
game. You could easily play with a hundred players on the same Arkfall so there's something wrong at your end if you weren't able to do this.

4. It's a poor man's Borderlands. Without any of the charm.

When it launched some people had trouble getting on but this was fixed after a couple of days. When "Borderlands 2" was launched it had a gamebreaking fault causing game freeze and I eventually returned my original copy to the place I bought it
from for a full refund after showing them the thousands of people complaining on the official Gearbox Website. My GOTY edition works fine now but while
I prefer Borderlands as a franchise "Defiance" was the better game on release.

Brilliant game that improved with every patch that the developer released. The graphics improved over time. The overall experience improved over time as well, steadily delivering everything the developer promised. Again it looks like your
internet connection has hindered your experience of the game. You missed out on a great experience.

"Borderlands" is a great place for people with no more than 3 friends.

Well sorry to hear you had such a hard time with your connection. I'm in the UK and maybe I was just closer to the European Server than you were to the American Server? But it's clear that you had a connectivity issue, whether it was your broadband's
fault or the game's fault and this has unfortunately given you a poor image of the game.
