Defective Kinect for xbox one

I purchased an xbox one/kinect bundle last year in May 2014. over the past few months my kinect sensor has stopped working. It initially works when plugged in, but after a few minutes the light on it turns off and becomes unresponsive. this makes it impossible
to play any games i bought for the kinect. I spoke with xbox support and i was told that i would have to pay 2/3 the cost to repair it compared to buying a brand new kinect. It amazes me that after almost a decade straight of loyal service that i am being
told to buy a brand new kinect or console. To me it sounds stupid to buy a new piece of hardware when the last one i bought crapped out just over a year later and i am being told to spend hundreds of dollars again, and what makes me so sure that the next one
wont do the same. Even my console has had disc issues for the past 6 months. I would greatly appreciate a response, as I am basically being told pay up or deal with what I have, after so many years of paying for service, games, consoles and content. Id appreciate
a timely response from someone who can help me with this problem.

Xbox One Will Not Function Without Kinect Attached

I wonder, What if the Kinect sensor is defective? Will that make the Xbox One an inoperable device?

Not sure why you think you should get special treatment just because you've been a customer for a certain amount of time.

It's the same with everything,once the warranty runs out then you have to pay to get the item fixed.

The person you spoke to was correct,either pay to have it repaired or buy a new one.

 

Its not that I'm asking for special treatment, but rather attention that the hardware is defective and give me at least a discount since I have been a loyal customer. This is not unheard of. Long time customers usually get some kind of respect, and maybe
even reimbursement. The fact of the matter is that I bought a piece of hardware and it crapped out. I shouldn't have to buy a brand new one after dishing out 500 bucks on a bundle. Hardware failure is not something i could have prevented. Why should I pay
out the *** to get it back to working status. If i don't get any response from xbox, it tells me they dont care about selling me a defective product. the 90 dollar fix is ridiculous. i understand that i may have to pay to fix it, but it is not worth almost
paying the cost of a new one. Should i really have to buy a new piece of hardware because older models simply cant last? It makes no sense to me. So now if i buy any xbox products again, im going to have to think is it worth the price if it craps out in a
year? I know if it does crap out i probably will be stuck with another defective item. So why would I ever buy anything from them again? A defective item is the responsibility of a company to at least fix at a lower cost. Mind you it has barely been over a
year.

 

The hardware isn't defective.Every electrical product has a small percentage that fails,you are unlucky that you got part of that small percentage.

As no one from Microsoft reads these forums you wont be getting any response from them.

 

I feel your pain, my Kinect also is experiencing the exact same issues as yours. I hardly use it anyway so to me its like whatever. They should replace yours free of charge in my opinion, especially given the fact of what we pay for these machines.
