Defective HDMI Port

I understand the process of return/repair. What I don't understand is the $300 usd required for all out of warranty repairs.

This is clearly not an issue where something was done by me to create the problem. Again, I cannot be the only one to experience this.

Basically, your expectation is for consumers to buy another system or pay an unreasonable amount to "fix" the issue likely by sending a refurbished unit that was possibly repaired from the same problem.

It is a great system for you. Sell product with defective parts, Charge owner 60% retail to fix, send a unit that was possibly repaired for the same problem (that you also probably charged $300 for a refurbished system) and consider this a reasonable resolution.

While I understand that no one who could actually do the right thing is reading this. It is unfortunate that large companies ignore loyal customers.

It seems my only recourse is to warn others to avoid purchasing products by Microsoft and consider if I should continue to be a customer myself.

This is just an example of an apathetic business response.

Sorry to hear that your HDMI port is not functional . As you already tried all the troubleshooting steps from your side and as the issue persists the next step will be request a repair order for your console

First sign in at https://support.microsoft.com/devices and then select Register new device.

After you've registered, you’ll see the warranty status for your device. If it’s within warranty, repairs are free. If your device is out of warranty, you’ll be charged a repair fee.

After you’ve registered your devices, follow these steps:

- In the Overview section of the Device repair page, select Repair my device.
- Follow the onscreen steps to complete your service order request.

After Device repair receives your submission, they’ll send you a service order number and an order confirmation email that has shipping or drop-off instructions.

Is hard to know what happened to your console.

So, I don't really know if was a malfunction or was caused by your environment, etc

You have the option to get service the console in another place if you don't want to do it with Microsoft, they have a repair fee like the other companies (Bestbuy, Gamestop, your closest electronic repair shop)
