    My console is currently set to download new content onto my external HDD. Is there an option to change that so new content is installed on the internal drive?

    Loading games off external Hard drive doesn't work (Xbox One)

    In the storage setup, try selecting the external HDD as your default storage. If this does not work, try installing the game again on the external hard disk, with the default setting being set at the time of installation.

    Sorry to hear you're having Difficulties installing, Do you have an internal and External HDD?

    I'm only asking as I had the exact same problem when I tried re-installing after I bought an external har drive

    if so set your internal HDD as the default drive for new to do this go to settings ->console -> Manage storage then set <internal hddname> as default install and hopefully this should work Default setting for external HDD :)

    Yes, not sure if you found the answer already but I managed to find it myself after digging around the Settings for a little while. It's more difficult than it needs to be. If you go to Settings > System > Manage Storage and Press A on the internal HDD it
    will let you select to install there by default.

    Have you gone into Settings>Storage and made your external HDD the default drive?

    The OS stays on the internal HDD. You can set the Xbox One to install games to the external storage device by default. You can also move all your stuff over to the external drive.
