    default has been to on since release of gamebar. you can disable it, and there is a way to remove it but the next update will re install it as microsoft and xbox are merged. don't forget windows OS is now a service hence why it free basically. you agree to these terms when you first login.

    As I mentioned in my original post, I've given the Xbox Game Bar app permissions. It's a bug. It shuts itself off even when I have the option turned on for it to turn my mic on by default when I record.

    Try going into your microphone settings and make sure that you have given the Xbox Game Bar app permission to access your microphone!
