Default install location set to Z: but only a few games will install there. Most still show...

What File System is Z: formatted as? If it's not formatted as NTFS then it won't be usable as an install target from the App. If it is formatted as NTFS you could see if there's an update to the App itself or check this thread - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...568-0074-4c57-82ad-bd0308e16e5c?page=7&auth=1 for a few other troubleshooting ideas.

I just took some random games, non of wich should require any ssd. 90% av the games only give me C: as option. On the other hand, no other game app (steam, ea, epic, etc) ever does this.

Also z: is a 8 drive hardware raid, with speeds that far exceed the c: ssd drive.

I cant recall wich games i choose to make the screenshots, so i will just choose two new ones so i can also answer with the name of the games.

The game, Phoenix Point, demanding 34.27GB defaults to Z: and also allows to choose between Z: and C:

The game, Slime Rancher, demanding 1.16GB defaults to C: and does not show any other available choices.

Now, if this was an issue where drive performance was the case, then Phoenix Point would be much more demanding then Slime Rancher.

So I conclude that this is infact unrelated to drive performance.

And why would almost all the games require installation on C:, ive never encountered a game on steam, ea, epic, or otherwise that can not be installed on another drive.

What were the two games? I'm wondering if, as Shaggy2000 mentions, whether the game requires an SSD or some such which may be why Z:\ isn't an option for some games.

It is NTFS. And like I said tho, some games the app will suggest the default Z: and also let me choose between C: and Z: but most games will just ignore the default Z: and only show C: as an option The app gets updated all the time, last update was yesterday, as the app will notify me when its "time to update the app" ;D

There is no error message or anything. It just selectivly ignores the Z: drive

The fix in that thread you linked was to update to Xbox Beta app 1911.1001.8.0.

I am however allready on version 2106.1001.4.0 so i will assume the fix from that beta is allready incorporated in my version?

Here are screenshots of two different game installs in the xbox app and as you see here, with game 1 it ignores the default and only presents C: as an option, game 2 correctly defaults to Z: and lets me choose between Z: and C:
