Dedicated Servers?

Will there be dedicated servers for Xbox One so we can have worlds that friends can play while we are off-line? I saw on the trailer for Minecraft Xbox One edition way back when that they were working on something along those lines. There has not been
any news since that I could find. Anyone have any info on that?

Ranked Matches....?

From what I understand Ranked = Dedicated Serviers / Player Match = Dedicated/hosted - I play more Ranked to make sure I'm on a dedicated server.

 

I'm also interested in this, as a featured creator it'd be great to set one up for all my younger followers, but i also have a fantastic build on my friends world too and would love unrestricted access to that... News please!

No, there won't be. The best you're gonna get it is if you leave your Xbox One on with Minecraft running and have it "act" as a server.

 

how do you make a dedicated server for the XBOX ONE? That runs even when your not around. I find the lack of information frustrating.

Also considering it was promised to the consoles by the creators of minecraft? It was even announced when it had come out with commercials and all that.

Its things like being promised something and not get it that makes me want to go back to PC.

 

^^ OK, so, I think there is some confusion going on in this thread. MS/Xbox One has dedicated servers for ALL multiplayer games (unless it is EA which utilizes their own crappy servers). That was promised, and that is a reality. When you play Minecraft
with a friend, you are connected to eachother via a dedicated server.

Now, what I think people are getting confused about is what they think a dedicated server can do. i.e. Log into a specific IP address where you and your friends are all congregated. That isn't happening on Xbox One, and that won't happen anytime soon.

 

Yes Egg, but also like EA (crappy or not), MS could easily rent out servers allowing play whilst the "purchaser" is offline.

To clear up some info, Minecraft as far as I am aware does not run on dedicated servers (yes party chat is and so is your friends list etc), it is provided by the host (which is why when you join a friends world it can take a while for the draw distance
and scenery to kick in)

What people are asking for is some form of "always online" aspect for a world (this WILL have to be purchased, don't kid yourselfs with anything else) so a host/purchaser would rent the server, create a seed world then set it to invite or open etc...

Dedicated servers will allow this, don't confuse the fact that XBL is running on dedicated servers to "some" games that are host based.

This is incorrect. If you are playing online and friends join your game, you are the host and you are hosting the server. This is not a dedicated server. A dedicated server is like when you are playing call of duty on the xbox one. If all players in the
game leave the game, the match continues and no longer searches for a new host since it's a dedicated server. What Slanz is wanting is totally legit. I too remember Minecraft advertising for the xbox one that dedicated servers would be available that would
essentially allow your friends to play on your world when you are not online. We already pay $60 a year for xbox live, and for what? The ability to play online with your friends. It would be ridiculous for Microsoft to charge an additional fee for these dedicated
servers, if they ever come to the xbox one.
