Decouple XBox One dashboard language and location?

Just got my XBox One and was very disappointed not to be able to select the dashboard language (English) independent of location (Finland).

Of course I want to set my real location, but why does that force the language selection as well?

People tend to live abroad in foreign countries but would still like their devices to speak their own language, let alone that by law my country is bi-lingual!

I've used the workaround of setting language as English and location as Ireland, just to have the currency in EUR in the Store... Would like to know if this is ok and will not cause me problems with purchased content later?

Microsoft, how can a restriction this silly exist in 2015?

Hi there,

The Xbox 360 decides what language to use for games based on you profile, and since fallout 3 is a 360 game, it will base the language on that. Please check the steps on how to change your account language on your billing account via the steps mentioned
here:
support.xbox.com/.../dashboard-or-hub-in-another-language

Any Xbox One console will determine the language based on the Region setting on the console, so you shouldn't have any game language issues for Xbox One games.

Let us know if changing the preferred language on your billing account solved the fallout 3 language issue.

This is no longer true, I believe. They have decoupled the region and the language so you can set those seperately, on the system level. I'll have to find that updated documentation and link it.

If you want to change the location for Xbox.com, you can go here (live.xbox.com/.../changelocale) and select the location you would like.

If you need to change the language on your Xbox you can follow these steps: On the Xbox dashboard you can go to Settings (all the way to the right at the top) >System Settings>Console Settings>Language and Local>Language. Here's the page that shows how

Scroll down to the language and locale settings. This will let you change the language to your desired setting and set your locale or location to load more appropriate content for your country.
