Declined Refund?!

I'm totally disgusted with Microsoft's ethics for not refunding me 'my' money. My 14yr old step-son, who has learning difficulties and about to start a specialist school for his many problems, has amassed £844.17 in unauthorised purchases on my account whilst
using my sons Xbox.

My 11yr old son used his own bank account to purchase his own downloads (again, I'm not happy about this either, so have now taken his card off him, plus the Xbox until further notice!).

I believed that the law protected me from liability for unauthorised purchases, and am surprised how simple it is for a child to download material, and how can Microsoft verify that they're dealing with an adult?

Surely there's human ethics to consider here. The sudden spike on the account in large 'add-ons' ..these points to use in games, one to the value of £84.99?? The previous history shows that this was not normal activity, which again shows there was suspicious
activity going on? How can they justify such astronomical charges? As if any normal parent would approve of such purchases? I cannot afford to lose this amount of money!

I am not IT literate, I trusted the boys! The temptations of these games are extremely worrying for the future of our children's generation, they encourage obsessive behaviour and get so addicted to gaming. Even though I thought I was a good parent, tried
to be fair, allowing some activity during the week to communicate with his peers, a little more over the wet, dark winter days of holidays and weekends...which is when this free-spending occured.

I have increased my own sons sporting activities, bought a series of exciting good books and we now have a beautiful Golden Retriever puppy, which means he'll be too busy to notice the loss of his Xbox! I am putting his new Xbox 1x (which was his Xmas present!) on
Ebay with all the games to recoup some of my money....seeing 'greedy' Microsoft won't even consider a refund!

Parenting is increasingly challenging today, with all the devices available and social media, it's difficult to bring up a child to grow into a well-rounded individual, but I will do the very best I can!

i got a $5 Xbox giftcard for 4650 Reward Points wait 24hrs for email confirmation & then my order is DECLINED & MY REWARD POINS 4650 ARE STILL GONE!

If my order is declined shouldn't. I get my Reward Points returned? But i want to know what happened.

Since that is not a Xbox Rewards program offer, Rewards support will not be able to assist. If that was done through the Microsoft Rewards program, you would need to contact their customer support via their redemption page.

 

The law does protect you against unauthorized purchases. The only problem in this case is the purchase was not unauthorized. If you willingly let your son use your account and he made purchases during that time that wouldnt be considered an unauthorized
purchase. You are responsible for all activity on your account. Anything done on your account by someone you let use your account is your responsibility.

If your son is not an adult then he should be using his own child account which would give you control over whether purchases can be made or not. If that was done like it should have been done in the first place then you wouldnt be having this problem.

If you have an adult account then thats how they would verify.As stated above in my previous point If your son is not an adult then he should be using his own child account.

 

the law and your card holders agreement does protect you against unauthorized purchases ask your card vendors what that means

As mentioned above its not unauthorized you willinglu allowed your son to be without parental control and without adult supervision with your card which is ironically q violation of your card agreement.

Therefor they are authorized

You didn't take parental resoncibility

Remember you are blaming an inanimate object

It is on you regardless of console or system or online service to controlled your kids

Ironically all the parental tools are there to use

There is little reason for your son to be on your account as home console allows him access to all your games
