Deciding to go all digital. have a few questions.

I personally like to have physical copies and I hope they will remain an option for a long time to come. I understand why buying digital only might appeal to some but for me it feels more like a restriction. But each to their own. But I rue the say hard
copies vanish.

Games were on tapes when I started gaming lol, things have changed.

It depends to be honest.

PC gaming gets away with a digital landscape because prices as a whole reflect the lack of a physical product.

None of the consoles have embraced that idea at the moment, with digital more often than not being more expensive than a physical product.

If the console manufacturers want people to embrace a digital future then they need to adjust their prices to match.

If someone is going all digital, wouldn't it be better to save up and pick-up a 5TB External HDD instead?

I am not that " tech-savvy " with computers & stuff, but I do know 1000 GBs equal 1TB

I recommend at least getting 4-5TBs if you're going all digital. Especially since you intend to store other stuff on it and the free downloads a month.

 

I am 100% digital since launch. I own 45+ digital games. I know I give up the trade in, but the ease of use and convenience is second to none. I can go to my friends list and join whichever game they're playing without ever getting up. I bought a Western
Digital 4TB External HDD, and I honestly couldn't be happier. Now, I would never tell anyone how to buy their games. If you prefer physical, then buy physical. I choose to buy digital because all the money goes directly to the developer and Microsoft. I view
Gamestop as a "middleman". They make millions each year just off the interest from holding your $5 for a preorder. They profit from the trade ins. It's a business. If they didn't profit, they wouldn't be in business. To each their own, but I absolutely do
not regret going all digital. Xbox go to "anything"

 

I would buy games on disk because theres no point buying a game that your not to shore about and then if you don't like it you cant sell it so I buy my games on disk.

1. its cheaper

2. I can take it back once completed or if I don't like it

3. if I sell my xb1 I wont be able to get money for all my games

I collect movies, and games for particular consoles.

Buying digital copies of games, movies, etc is, in my estimation, a complete wast of money at this time in history.

Now if they come out with a HQ 500 - 5 million TB external HDD with codex allowing it 2B used on ANY PC, Console etc then going all digital would be worth the investment.

But we all know that DRM minded corp will not do that. So physical copies is the only way to go.

 

Games that i know i will never trade in or sell to a friend i buy digital. Games that im usure about or that i want to be able to trade/sell i buy physical.

All of the physical games i've bought i might as well have bought digital, I've done nothing with them, the discs are pointless. Just an annoyance of having to deal with them. Honestly i would play all 3 of them more but when I'm like HMM what do i want
to play. Ill just load up a game i own digitally rather then find my Ryze or Watch Dogs disc.

Digital is the future, like it or not. Look at the post office, most mail is being sent email or other digital ways. Look at Blockbuster, Movie Gallery; all went out of business because of the digital market. It is easier, more convenient to order digital.
Is it the right option, that is a personal opinion. Myself, I went full DD with my X1. I don't miss changing discs. I have over 20+ games (not all installed at once) and doubt I will ever buy a disc copy again.... (exception would be Disney Infintey......)

^ I talked with a Blockbuster manager. He said they went out of bus bc some corps spent loads of cash lobbying Congress to make certain rulings.

We will see just how good/bad of an impact that will make on the gaming/video industry. I 4 1 bet they (US/world economy/industry) dont EVER recoup the billions lost.

 

At least with physical I can get annoyed trying to take the plastic wrapper off. lol. I can also smell that fresh new game smell. Who doesn't love that?

 

I only like the smell of opening up a fresh console. All that plastic!!! Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Discs not so much.

 

Look at this way - digital is safer for the environment because it produces less trash (which is to say, none at all).
