there are some really good looking sessions, note :

DirectX 12: A New Meaning for Efficiency and Performance (Presented by AMD)

one of the people is Dan Baker (Oxide Games) whos CEO is Brad Wardell, who is the guy in the recent TiC podcast that has talked about massive performance gains in the region of 500% in certain instances. some where asking before who is this Brad how does
he know about DX12, theres your answer he has had DX12 for some time and created bench marks and tests to show us real world performance gains.

The TiC podcast is still to set a date with the xbox DX12 team, if your interested, as soon as I know I will post here.

They didn't give us real world benches, they gave us benches from a game engine designed specifically to bench DX12 that doesn't even have a game currently being developed for it. It was nothing more than a tech demo.

Stardock has a new game engine (Nitrous) which apparently the Star Swarm bench is based on yet that engine isn't being used for the two games they are currently developing.

If they wanted to impress people and since they have had access to DX12 for so long they should have benched Galactic Civilizations III or Sorcerer King using a DX12 build. The games are currently available in early access using DX11 so we could have definitely
seen how big of an impact DX12 would make in the case of those two games.

I firmly believe DX12 will lead to improvements but this 600 percent garbage that's getting thrown around is ridiculous.

I keep saying this and I'll say it again......Why Stardock? They make 4x games. Where are the developers of the FPS's and action games where these promised huge advances will be much more relevant?

The 600% that's being "thrown around" is referencing performance with future engines built with it in mind. You would know that if you took the time to either listen to the podcast or read the articles posted here is a synopsis for you, although I think
you actually seem to be really determined to dismiss this as tosh.

    What game engines?

Microsoft said last March that by "holiday 2015" we'd see PC releases using DX12 and 50% of the PC games would be using it

    www.vg247.com/.../directx-12-first-dx12-games-to-hit-the-market-around-holiday-2015-says-microsoft

Where are these games? I own dozens of early access PC games that aren't being built around DX12 and will probably go retail around that time. For any of this to happen we need a retail release of Win 10 on the PC and that's going to happen my the end of
    the year?

I've read every word of those articles that have been posted here, The different between you and I is that I ask questions rather than take their statements on blind faith. It's not adding up. Where is the real world proof that any of this is going to happen?

that 600% increase is also based off that same engine running that same program using Dx11 to set a base line. so if everyone wants to switch and twist it that way... with the same hardware inside the XB1 as there is now and of BF4 was written using DX12
for an engine using DX12, that same game would be if not 600%, but 500 400 300 even 100% percent increse

or even less. This is from the article that Genchy linked.....

"Although first generation of DirectX 12 games, will only see a 10 to 20% boost because they are written for DirectX 11 and updated to support DirectX 12. We will have to wait until new engines are written directly for DirectX 12, to witness the real benefits.
He claims that this will happen within the lifetime of the current consoles and believes that we will be playing games that look like The Lord of The Rings: Return of the King, by the end of this console generation."

This is Hololens stuff not real world reality. I don't understand why they feel the need to do this. I'm fine with a 10 to 50 percent performance increase which is probably realistic depending on the game genre but throwing around these huge gain numbers
and then giving vague timelines is simply over-hyping and leads to disappointment.

So let me get this straight, someone well known in the industry who actually makes games and knows there stuff in a proven games developing arena say positive things about DX12. On the other hand an amateur gaming rig builder says that it's rubbish and
the developer is wrong in what he says. Mmmmm .

In other breaking news a man from Woverhampton has confirmed the Earth is actually flat.

I know when holiday 2015 is. That's why I asked where the games are.

They have to be in development now to be released then. Where are they? I've been Binging all morning looking for a list of games being built around DX12 engines and can't find anything.

Did you know who he was prior to this announcement? I own and play all of Stardock's games and I didn't know him by name.

If you did and you play their games then you should be asking the same question I am.....why is he the only one coming forward with this information. They make only one genre of games and it's not even a console genre. Where are the big developers making
the big selling genres? Where are the games that are in development?

I confess Randver I didnt. My opinion is you clearly know your stuff when it comes to PC gaming and hardware, but your constant negativity and point blank refusal to give any ground diminishes the validity of your opinion. Let's face it there are plenty
of other industry bods who could be calling him out as talking BS on this, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I don't consider my post negative, I'm just being realistic.

When you read the articles that even you linked and look at what's actually being said rather then just the attention grabbing headlines most would come the same conclusion I do. The facts don't live up to the hype.

These guys don't have crystal balls so telling what they see happening 5 or 6 years from now is strictly speculation. I think that's why many of the other industry leaders are keeping their mouth shut and not backing him up or calling him out. People simply
don't know what impact DX12 will have.

Every PC gamer that was around for DX10 is getting deja vu. We listened to the hype and promises but when it was all said and done it simply didn't deliver.
