Dead xbox one x after 2 years. No support available.

Hello,

I have been struggling with corrupted saved games and a dying internal hard drive for about a month on my kids' xbox one x. This has cost me many, many hours of deleting corrupted saved games, restarting, re-installing, etc. Errors E102, E105, etc. Constant
issues. Any day they want to try to play a game, the entire system has to be removed and reinstalled. Then, during games, they'll receive a "your saved games are corrupt" alert, meaning any progress will be deleted after restarting.

Today, the console seems to be officially dead. I purchased it for Christmas 2017, so we've had it for just over 2 years. Since it's out of warranty, and I've read that the cost of service is quite high and may not permanently solve the problem, I've been
trying to buy a new system. Nothing is available at the moment, and no time frame for a change is given anywhere. And no service seems to be available either. I am also paying monthly fees for game pass for my kids. Not sure how to proceed. I'd appreciate
any advice, or possible contact from microsoft?

Well generally its not a good idea to use third party servives for repair as its isnt supportted

And can earn you a console ban

Usually if you buy game stop warranty they do offer they replace the unit as with xbox sometimes does with out of warranty repairs or even with In Warramty

And yes HDD do die

Its the very nature of HDDs

You are talking about a device with 3 mechanical motors that goes 7000 rotations per second per disk which is 3 disks and this does eventually wear down a drive

Typical lifrspan of a hdd is 3-5 years depending on use

Shorter if moved a lot and enviroment

When you see corruption files on any computers it means that sector of a hdd is physically damage and data has to be deleted since its no longer can br used due to deteriotation or worse if you move a computer or console the motors can make contact with
the disks

Keep in mind SSDs dont have that problem but they deterioate at a much faster rate

The os wouldnt use that damaged area any longer

does it turn on at all now? if so is it possible to try and use an external drive for your games and see if they work from that at least for now?

The Gamestop service is quite interesting. I'll probably go that route with this system at some point.

This is rough. Out of stock everywhere. I've read that MS isn't producing them anymore, since it's shifting production to the new system.

I'm not thrilled that MS has shifted to a design-to-fail strategy. (Poorly designed internal hard drive that requires a $250+ service by MS to fix.) That was always more of an Apple thing.

I guess I have to cancel my kids' game pass. Maybe look into the switch or playstation.
