Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round aka DOA5LR

Thanks for the tip dangerboy. I had it freeze a lot too. Fun game but annoying when it freezes.

 

Yeah, I turned off throwdowns and I've seen some costumes unlock through playthrough but this is the Halloween content (2013 and 2014) and some other special sets they put out as DLC that's not there.

Wiped everything. Re-uploaded from DOA5U and re-installed DOA5ULR and got the data trasnfer successful confirmation (you have to delete your saves from "everywhere" - not too big a deal when you've only just started) but unfortunately still no joy.

 

I'm glad I decided to not get this. 1 because of the micro transactions, yes I know you don't need them, but it's scummy to do and 2. because I've been reading all over the place that people are having nothing but problems with this.

If they are going to hack it up into a million little pieces to sell, at least make them work properly.

 

Yeah, I know what you mean. I love this franchise... it's one of my all time favourites... and right now I couldn't recommend it to anyone.

 

I remember the good ol' days of DoA on the original Xbox.

 

It's not a bad game at all. I'm just playing the trial again. Now it I bought this game for 40, I woulda definitely thought it was garbage. It's my first DOA game too and I am enjoying it. Is the appeal of this game the big ***? I like the gameplay but also
appreciate the cleavage.

Well maybe if you actually read the posts rather than post useless replies, you would have seen me saying there's a trial on top of this page.

 

Finally gotten mine to run stable since I deleted and recovered my profile from the XBox ONE.

Maybe this fixed it... maybe I'm just lucky now... maybe it will crash the next time I try to play... I' not that confident.

Still have issues about content that hasn't transferred and am having to raise this with Customer Support.

When it's working... it is a gorgeous game, even if it is running mainly "Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate" with some perks and padding, with the ONE hardware you really notice the difference.

I suppose I can see if they gave reviewers a preview build with just a few fighters that ran properly and that's all they saw that explains why most reviews of this game appear to be favourable.

That being said just Google "DOA5: Last Round Problems" and you'll see how many peolple, especially on the XBox side, are having gameplay issues.

If it worked it would be brilliant.

But right now it doesn't.

Team Ninja has confirmed that over 400 costumes will be in the game, including 31 new to Last Round.[2] These new costumes were designed by fans as part of Team Ninja's Designers Challenge. As in Ultimate Arcade,
players can choose different hairstyles and accessories from a sub-menu in the character select screen. Last Round will include new optional hairstyles for some characters, including Kasumi, Kokoro, Hitomi, Tina and Mila. The Costume Options menu and new hairstyles
will only be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.

Most Dead or Alive 5 DLC costumes are included (all but the Hot Getaway Packs), as well as the following Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate DLC costume packs by default via unlockable:[3]

I stopped reading at 400. Do gamers actually require this many costumes?

 

Male gamers needs to have a large choice of bikinis for their female characters....This is D.O.A spirit.

 

Finally downloaded the free trial and got to try it out. It's "okay" to say the least. It's pretty much what I expected - good graphics, simple gameplay, and lots of accessorizing on pretty girls. My favorite part had to be the fact that the characters actually
got "ruffed up" during the fights, accruing dirt, scratches, bruises, etc.

 

It's simple to start with.

It's a triangle system. Strikes beat Throws, Throws beat Holds, Holds beat Strikes.

For every attack there's a counter attack.

But gains it's depth from how you apply it.

Which is why you will NEVER see a button basher bash their way past someone who's excellent at the game.

I'm not sure if the demo allows you access to the training and combos tutorial but a quick look through there will show you just how much of a game there is to get a grips with.

Fortunately unlike previous versions, where former Team Ninja director Itagaki-san felt it was a point of honour to make the game difficulty... to the point that many who bought "DOA: 4" ended up packing it it because the couldn't beat the final boss...
well this current incarnation can be played at a level to suit both the Novice and the Expert alike.

Since my "fix" I've had no issues with crashes. I still have some issues with content but I'll give MS some time to get back to me on this because I know I'm not alone.

For someone coming to this fresh without having to worry about porting stuff over and stuff like that... as much as I disagree with the format of the product, it's the best Fighter on current gen consoles right now.

 

One thing about this game is the controls are awesome. Mind you I haven't played a DoA game since the original xbox.

 

What I find really funny is the fact that I've been calling this game very simple compared to other fighting games, especially Killer Instinct, but I just got back from the Killer Instinct official forums where some notable community members are claiming
that KI is simple compared to DoA5... ><
