Update - I have solved my "freezing" issues. Apparently the THROWDOWNS setting seems to be what was causing it. I set it to DECLINE and all is well. Basically whatever servers they are
using for online really suck. I crash a lot. Since the throwdown thingy is looking for people while you're playing other offline modes, it basically freezes / crashes your game when it's looking for others to join. All I know is, after changing my setting,
offline play is fine. Before, literally 9 out of 10 games would freeze up. Online play still sucks. That is all for now.

DOA Starter Set 2 + Characters pack has no character unlock content

Hey, OblivionFu! The description also reads:

"This set unlocks all the content in the full version of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round."

There are two versions of DoA5LR;
DoA5LR Full Game and
DoA5LR: Core Fighters. If you do not own the Full Game, this content will not fully unlock for you in game. You will need to make the purchase of the full game as well for the Starter Set to work in the game.

If you do own the Full Game, one thing that could also cause this is not being in the same physical location as to what your account is set to. Say, if you're located in the US, but have your account set to the UK, that will cause licensing issues. We highly
suggest making sure your account's region reflects your physical location.

If you've made sure of both of these, please post back so that we can look into this further. Thanks!

That doesn't really "solve" much if one cannot Join any Match-making. I did manage to finally Join 1 Ranked Match today. It seems as if the Connection Ping might have something to do with it. This in turn is also what I believe
to be causing the crash from Throwdown.

 

It actually solved a lot for me. My whole game was pretty much unplayable. Even though the matchmaking is still a joke, I can now do everything else. Before, my game was useless. This game needs some serious fixes. I like
to do the offline stuff to unlock outfits. I didn't buy the game just for matchmaking. At least now I can do something in the game. I was really close to getting a refund. I still may if they can't get some fixes soon.

 

I didn't have that Lock-up for just the SP stuff? But then again I was just doing Story/ Training and such. Throwdown only shows Invites in Free Training and Arcade I believe.

Anyways, I tried playing with the Ping and Region Settings to see if I could get MM to work. It does not, I got the 1 and only Ranked Game (oh and a Lobby Launched) and about 30+ crashes. "Next Gen"... smhh

 

Anyone got their Costumes to unlock yet?

My copy should arrive today.

 

The more I hear about this game, the more I'm glad I didn't get it...

 

Well despite the less than perfect launch it's still

"Best looking DOA to date"

"Largest DOA Roster in History"

"1080p 60FPS Gameplay"

So if I have to wait a few days for them to sort it out I can play "Evolve".

It's not like I'm stuck playing "The Escapists".

 

I downloaded the trial last night. It turns out you can still get a lot of gameplay from that so I'll see how it is later.

It's pretty much a disgrace in my opinion. I just made a similar thread about a different game recently so I didn't want to do it again.

The other night I was searching Add-Ons in the store, but I like to look at them all just to see what's there. I had to scroll to the right for about 12 minutes until I got past all the costumes for this game lol. It's pretty sickening and a shame where this
industry is going.

I can't help but think this thread title looks like the word DOLL5R

 

Azrael, sorry but that's Internet parroting. 1080p and 60fps doesn't do much when it is very little more then the same over-all Assets from prior Games. Look at everything in whole and each in-part and it's pretty much the same
as before, just a "new coat of paint". I understand it is really just a Port of the same from Last Gen but in that case it should not be placed on a pedestal either.

Brandiesel, it is a shame that they would rip the Game apart in such a fashion. DoA Ultimate from way back at the turn of the Original Xbox was a late release for that Gen. It offered tons of Content without the need to rip it
apart via "DLC" such as DoA5LR has done. And Ultimate was cheaper as well evet at Retail Release. With this though I do acknowledge that LR was all Additional Content from actual DLC last Gen on DoA5. It's a litlle scum-baggish that they (Tecmo/ Team Ninja)
would take such a slippery slope in this grey zone.

Both of the above kinda tie into the question of it is supposed to be "Next Gen" but offers very little more in terms of actual "Next Gen" Assets but still manages to simply take pre-existing Assets and charge for them. I'll give
them (Tecmo/ Team Ninja) slight leniency being this is the "first" venture on Next Gen and the benefit of doubt they are getting their feet wet.

 

I'm really surprised by this game and not in a good way.

Can't play arcade mode without it crashing. As soon as I select a character it buzzes and freezes.

On top of that... some of the content I bought hasn't carried... specifically the 2013 Halloween costumes.

But then to complete my character costumes... it will cost me apparently a further £60.00?

They have taken my favourite game... smashed it into 400 pieces and are offering to sell it back to me piece by piece.

You put the disc in... and it queues up content downloads?!?!

What a Frankenstein's Monster of a mess of a game.

The worst part of it is all the game sites giving this game great reviews like what they've done is ok.

It's not.

It's insulting.

They've spoiled one of the greatest franchises in modern gaming.

Shameful.

Turn off throw downs. That should fix the freezing. I've e played thru arcade several times without a single one but I turned that off. Because I heard it was an issue.

 

I've also noticed that MOST of th costumes can be unlocked thru gameplay.
