    Dead Hard Drive - will I lose game progress if I reload the game on another hard drive?


    My 250 gb hard drive died. Clicking and Xbox won't start. When I pull the hard drive out the console works fine. However my favorite game (World of Tanks) as well as all my other games (have 60 plus hours of Skyrim) are stored on the dead drive. My internal
    4gb drive seems to be fine. I downloaded WOT and am ready to play but I'm afraid if I log onto the game I will start all over again.

    Does anyone know what happens in this situation?

    Hello, I have a question. When ever I log in to a account it does what you have stated and I have also had this problem since I have tried to download a game. I don't know how to remove my hard drive and I do not want to lose all my progress and level on
    my game. Does that happen when I take out the Hard Drive do I lose my level and progress in the game?

    I have a question about external hard drive support. It's no secret that gamers with extensive libraries like mine will require additional storage space to manage their games. However, it's scary to think that you could lose all progress and saves if
    something were to happen to that hard drive. My question is this: is it possible to INSTALL game files onto a large external hard drive, but save your game PROGRESS on the internal 500GB hard drive? This way, even if the worst were to happen to that external
    hard drive (like if it were to just die in time) you would simply reinstall the game on a new one and you'll still have all your progress and saves because they are saved to the internal drive. Is this kind of management possible or do I have to rely on an
    external HDD exclusively?

    Hey jmp1954! For an online game like World of Tanks your data should be stored in the cloud but the other game data will be lost unless it was specifically saved in the cloud. Thanks!

    The cloud is used for game progress saves, not for storing the actual title. So your Red Dead Redemption progress save is on the cloud storage, but the actual game is stored on your hard drive.
