    Dead Email Address


    When I initially started gaming with the XBOX 360 system, I created a profile with my college email account. This was several years ago. I no longer have access to that account. When I try to sign in to my profile it takes me to the sign in with email and
    password screen. When I choose 'Continue', it shows me the old email address and I then choose 'Done'. At this point I get the Account Info error screen saying that email and password didn't work (I am thinking because the account has been closed at school).
    I choose 'Can't access your account?' which drops me on the Internet offering options for 'I forgot my password', 'I know my password, but can't sign in', and 'I think someone else is using my Microsoft account'. None of these options solves the problem of
    a defunct email address. How do I change my profile email account so I can sign in?

    A question I have about Xbox Live

    A question I have is when I sign in on my Xbox 360 to my Xbox Live account in the top right corner it shows your emblem along with a rotation of my gamertag name, achievement numbers, money I have on my account, and my email address linked to the account. But for some reason it doesn't show my email address when it's rotating through and instead just shows blank nothing until the next thing comes up in the rotation when it should show my email address in the rotation.

    I went a dug up my college email and it is an outlook address. I tried the process again this time choosing 'I know my password, but can't sign in'. I entered the email address and the password, knowing both are valid because I logged into the email account
    through the internet earlier. Microsoft produced a screen saying: 'Try entering your Microsoft account again. We don't recognize this one.' Then I Sign in at the bottom of the page and entered my account and password, producing a screen saying: 'That Microsoft
    account doesn't exist. Enter a different account.'

    So I can enter the account at the WCSU email portal (Microsoft Outlook 365 / Outlook), but the XBOX account does not recognize at initial sign in or through the help utilities offered by XBOX360. Any ideas?

    Hey HUGHESnet24,

    It's much easier to leave the dead email address as your Microsoft Account ID. Microsoft uses this email as more of a username for login. You can add additional emails (aliases) to your Microsoft Account and then set this alias as your primary contact email.

    Hi,

    You'll want to read the information listed here in order to make the e-mail change from
    one gamertag to another. If the e-mail that you wish to change it to has a Xbox LIVE account already associated with it, then you'd need to move that e-mail before you're able to make use of that e-mail on another account. This is because only 1 e-mail address
    can be associated with 1 gamertag/account.
