    Dead by daylight will not start.


    I have Dead By Daylight on the PX game pass, I just updated the game and when I try to start it, it crashes. It gets to the beginning cut scene and then froze, followed by it crashing and an error message saying "The UE$_DeadByDaylight Game has crashed and will close. Fatal error!" I've done lots of research and can't figure anything out. I've tried deleting and re-installing the game and it didn't work.

    I'm sorry for your issue.
    Although the issue only occurs with this game, it's always good to make sure that Windows is updated, and the same goes for the Xbox app and Game Services.

    To update Xbox app and Game services

    Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.
    Select Library.
    Under Updates & downloads, check if there are any updates available for the Xbox app or Gaming Services app. If an update is available, select Update.

    Since you've already tried repairing the game and uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox app, I suggest you to try reinstalling the Game Services.

    To do this you must press the Start button on the taskbar,
    type 'powershell,'
    right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select 'Run as administrator.'

    In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

    In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    Install the app on that page and select 'Yes' when you receive the User Account Control (UAC)
    prompt.
    Restart your device.

    Additionally, you can also try clearing the cache of the Xbox app.
    To clear your APP cache:
    Go to Settings> System> Apps & features> Select App> Advanced options> Reset.

    If the issue persists, I'm afraid you may need to reset Windows.

    Others have had this issue and signing out and back in seems to help.

    did you install dead by daylight or the special edition?

    You can play Dead by Daylight: Special Edition with Xbox Game Pass for Console, or buy it to own.

    dead by daylight is purchasable may have been on gamepass and rolled off.
