    DDOS attack?

Just to say it's long story both I've already called microsoft twice, called cox three times and even the people who made the darn modem won't help.

I was told by microsoft xbox it was a DDOS attack.

A real one would affect my internet as well which it hasn't. However, I cannot log in live on xbox, I even paid to change my gamertag which I was told to do, it didn't help.

On my husband's account he was playing Call of duty online like usual. Suddenly someone on there was being a sore loser, began threatening to hack saying I'm gonna hack you this and that.

And since then, cannot play online, can't even use my apps assosiated with the account. I paid to have a gold membership even, I've been on the phone hours trying to get this sorted out.

You tell me it's cox's problem. I've had my IP changed twice, it didn't affect the XBOX.

Even cox themselves called microsoft but maybe there is a communication problem?

It IS a internet problem, BUT ONLY the Xbox is affected. I've changed my internet already. I did everything else, it's the xbanythox. I'm told it's DDOS attacks, well a real one would get everything. so I'm even wondering, if who I keep getting stuck with
on the phone even knows what they are talking about..

I can log in, but minutes in online I get a message, "Been disconeccted from xbox live."

It doesn't say it was on another console, but it's been going on months now. It's driving us insane, I'm told to upgrade to xbox one.

    Why should I?

The costumer service seems to really not be worth it, and this is my desperate attempt to reach out. A message on a board to other users and moderators.

    I've called and called already.

What is going on, what can I do to fix it? I changed my info, the gamer tag, the f'**ing internet, what ELSE do I have to do, to stop this happening?

    :)

You don't you call your isp support

Hardreset your modem sand router and notify your isp that should be your first call

Ddos attacks don't happen thru the Xbox but thru your internet connection

TToblock one is simple talk to yyourisp about their firewall and your firewall settings

I've addressed my internet, even changed providers once.

They're telling me it's not the internet it's the xbox alone and thusly microsoft's problem while microsoft tells me it's their problem.

    I'm stuck in the middle.

    DDOS attack?

Your Xbox doesn't have allow ddos

maybe you should educate yourself on the internet

Xbox and psn dont run on the same protocols as the internet or ddos

Thence why attacks can't be sent thru them

your router and ip is public knowledge as you need to be visible to net to connect to it

That's what your isp should be addressing

If your isp is telling you it's an Xbox or psn issue you need to learn English

An isp will never blame a service for ddos attacks

It's criminal and legally makes them suspecible to million dollar lawsuits

The only thing Xbox is responsible for is your connectivity to Xbox live

Your ip is your responsibility along with your isp to protect yourself from disconnecting from the internet

Ddos or even dos attacks are against the law and enforced by your lsp

I've cleaned out the system, air dusted it, it did improve.

However, the original issue of the one game we're getting kicked off of Call of Duty black ops.

Internet is fine, I even ran every single product I had with internet at the same time testing speeds and watching the input and output of information.

The internet seems fine...I've changed providers once already because of this, everyone tells me it's not their problem and I understand if it isn't.

But since it's only affecting call of duty online, would I need to contact the makers of the game? I really don't think that will help,

I KNOW it's not a DDOS attack, it'd affect everything. This has everyone confused as well as myself, I even wouldn't think a hacker at all if it wasn't for the timing and the fact he said over the mic "I'm doing it!"

    Than click.

    And since then, trouble.

I've taken the system over to a different house, a friend that traded his xbox with mine to see if it was the same at his place and it was. Different internet, different place, same thing happening.

However his own accounts weren't kicked, only my husband's.

We've changed the gamer tag paid for it as it,

    But this is confusing everyone.

Only call of duty at this point, I've reported the user already but it doesn't seem as if anything was done.

If he really didn't hack, I will say the timing and game is really interesting.

I don't think it's even POSSIBLE to kick someone off a game, not affect the internet and continue it.

Perhaps it's the system. I've changed internet providers I've been watching each second of input output of information trying to see a change. Running different things, doing this and that.

    =/

Will I have to change internet providers a third time?

I'm really hoping not but that may be my only choice. Either I have a really smart hacker that somehow is doing something I think is near impossible, or just the timing and game is creepy....

Either way, I'm lost. It could be the system, though it confuses me that it's only ONE game it's affecting.

Yes cleaning it out improved it, but it's still back at stage one, only call of duty black ops. THe game is a download so we don't use a disk.

    DDOS attack?

I don't appreciate my English being questioned nor my comprehension of the situation and what I'm being told. I'm simply repeating what I was told, which both cox and micro soft told me it's the other's problem.

I know it's stupid but I was told that. I thank you for the firewall thing, but again I don't appreciate the insults.

  14. Shiinkko hey there DDOS attack? :)

You don't need to change your ISP for a third time, no. You do not need to upgrade to Xbox One and you didn't even need to change your gamertag. If its only giving you problems on that one game then you don't have a problem with Xbox LIVE or your internet
connection, not if it works fine on everything but Call of Duty Black Ops. It sounds more like an isolated problem with that one game. I'm curious, have you tried deleting and reinstalling it? I know its totally left field but at this point it seems like you
have exhausted all other options at this point.

Is there any process to report a "boot" to any authorities?

"Boots" are done via Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, and are illegal in basically all countries.

Therefore the process to report such an DDoS attack would be to contact your ISP, as they can check their logfiles about the attack.

Then contact your local police and have them work with the ISP to determine the source of the DDoS attack and take the necessary steps.

    Also check the
official FAQ about DDoS attacks here

    I got DDOSed yesterday

    ddos attack lol????

do you even know what DDOS is?

first of all if it was a DDOS attack then you should be complaining at your ISP since your service of internet was denied

Microsoft cant do anything about that neither can Xbox support...

go to your ISP file a complaint and make sure they start a investigation

xbox cant do anything against DDOS attack neither do u have any proof of this so called DDOS attack

Most ISPs and your router firewal blocks the DDos attacks at a certain level.Theres a verry litle chance that you can be DDos attacked

    Ddos attacks

Do a five minute modem-off sequential power cycle and your ISP should issue you a new IP addresse. Than any DoS attack will go into the ǽther.
