Day one update question

Hi there,

I've just gone out and picked up a hardcopy of the game. I unfortunately have a 0.6meg internet connection, which means the day one update of 1151MB is going to take me over a day and a half to download.

I do however have access to a T1 wi-fi connection at university. Is there any way to download the patch to a flash drive to then authenticate and install tomorrow?

I always keep the xbox connected to my exceptionally modest internet connection, therefore I cannot even load up the game once it has been installed from the disc. Any help would be fantastic.

I know you said that you dont disconnect but here is how to do it quicker if your still installing. Hover over game in my games and apts. Then select quit or stop. It will then be added to your ready to install list. Then unplug your internet connection
or turn your modem/router off. Then while offline install the game. It wont take long as install does not depend on connection. Then when done load the game which then will prompt you for the update. This will download with your slow connection. Im only about
triple your speed and it took me about 45 minutes to 1 hour. When you install while online it was trying to do the update and install at the same time which takes much longer. How I told you to do it will do each one separately which is much easier on your
connection speed. Good luck.

 

Thanks for the advice buddy, I did exactly that last night. The game installed no problem, and I left the download running when I went to bed. On my way out the door I checked the percentage on the update, in 6 hours it had downloaded 26%.

 

I have been seeing everywhere people advising to hold off on the update, install the game first then install update. I did not know this beforehand and I spent 6-8 hours with it being completed at only 44%. Now I'm doing it offline and it's speeding through.
