Day 1 - get image on TV, but operating system does not finish loading?

Hi, I am confused by my problem with our new XBox, trying to set it up for the first time. None of the instructions I have read mention this problem. After I turn the power on, XBox does put an image on the TV of the controller. So I get past the green
screen, to the black screen showing an image of the controller. That image shows a blinking white "X" controller button. I then turn on the controller, but nothing else happens. We have 2 controllers, and tried both. The TV image of the controller never
changes.

According to guides I have read, the image should switch to a closeup of the controller focused on the "A" button. That never happens.

I have tried:

• changing batteries in the controllers
• powering down XBox, both holding power button 10 seconds and unplugging

Any ideas?

Anyone know even what this problem is called? I don't see it described anywhere, so I am having trouble searching the web for it.

Xbox one freezing and crashing then turning off

To the second responder, your tv and receiver is probably not the issue. Mine was connected to a 720p tv and a 15 year old receiver without issues.

Have you tried powercycling once per day? If you always have the console on instant on settings, it does not get a change to restart like most computer devices need to in order to refresh the operating system.

 

Help! the graphics on my xbox360 has changed and it looks really bad.

Hi, what exactly do the graphics look like ? Have you tried resetting the display settings on the console at all ?

Try connecting the controller to the xbox one via a usb cable see if that helps ?

also dont you have to pair the controller with the console (little black button on controller and button on the side of the xbox one)

 

Thanks for the idea. Tried that just now, didn't work. I plugged a USB into the controller, then into the side USB port on the console.

 

hmm ...

Try turning on the xbox one and controller, press the button on the left front side of the Xbox one, then press the little black button on the top of the Xbox One controller see if that does anything other than that turn off console unplug from mains supply
wait a few mins, reboot the console and try again.

dont know or have any other idea's sozz.

 

do the white buttons blink for a while then get solid ? or do they stay blinking ?

 

White buttons stay blinking.

edit : ahh great you sussed it.

 

Just add once you get your Xbox one setup make sure you update the Xbox One controllers also.

you will need an USB lead to update the controllers if i remember rightly.
