Day 1 edition disc drive

my disc drive has stopped reading most discs and is making a loud whirring noise. I've researched and it seems like a design fault in this edition. Is there much I can do about it? Any help would be appreciated

DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

I still think Xbox 1 is a better DVD player than my Xbox 360 slim 250gb console. When I play any DVD on my 360, even if it has one tiny finger print smudge on the disc, the Dashboard will bring up a notification bubble "attempting to read media". On Xbox
1, it can have several finger smudges on the disc and the Xbox 1's disc drive will still be able to play and read it. I must be one of the lucky ones with a good disc drive and have had Xbox 1 since Day 1 (Day 1 edition) ;D

Controller will not stay connected

I've also had this problem since day one, tried every solution to no avail, so where do i request a new console? And will it be a day one edition? (chrome disc drive)

Hi,

if it's making that noise and not reading discs I would say it needs a repair. I wouldn't recommend a self repair though. If you request a repair you can find out costs and such

here.

We have a
troubleshooter for Disc Errors, give all the steps in that guide a try to see how it goes. If none of the steps in there are helping out a repair would be your next option as brandiesel1 recommended. Let us know what happens.

Yay I have the Xbox 1 Day One Edition with Kinect I went to the midnight release. But I haven't had any serious issues with the disc drive. It's a Philips one they put in the console. Sometimes it makes a sort of scraping noise but doesn't damage my discs,
and says it cant read the game/DVD disc. I just eject it and re-insert it and that fixes it.
