Googling has turned up a crazy amount of info, so much conflicting that I figured I'd ask again. This has to be common - I can't believe it's as convoluted as I'm finding..

I (dad) have an Xbox One with gold. I bought bunch of games.. I don't really play anymore, my daughter does.. she uses her own gamertag and plays the games on my console.

Daughter is going to college. She got an Xbox One for the dorm. How can she play the games that I have bought? I don't need to be able to play at the same time.. if they were on disc I'd just give her the disc.. or if I could transfer ownership to her I
would. I don't need to share gold either, I'll pay for her own gold subscription.

I've seen videos on crisscrossing the "My Home Xbox" setting so my home is hers, and her home is mine.. that seems ridiculous. Sounds like there used to be some sort of Family stuff but maybe not any longer? It shouldn't be this complex lol.

    Thanks.

    :)

Playing with a different local account with xbox live?

My daughter and I really love this game. She wants to be able to play with her own account so she can use her own handle and level up on her own accord. But if we try to play with her local account, it says "xbox live is required" and won't use my xbox live
account. Don't tell me I have to pay for two xbox live accounts so she can play using her login?

The Home console setting would really be the only way, which is really pretty simple. Nothing can be transferred between accounts.

There used to be a family gold plan, but that was only a different way of purchased gold for multiple accounts. It had no effect on sharing games or game licenses.

  5. Hi, it's not complicated at all. Games cannot be transferred from one account to another. You can however transfer the console license to her console. You just have to log in on her console with the account that purchased the games, then make that console
the Home Xbox. Then you can remove the account from that console, she can log in with her account, and play your games on her console. The only drawback this has, is you have to be connected to Xbox live on your console when you want to play your games. Also making
her console the home console gives her access to all your xbox subscriptions too, this includes gold, game pass & EA Access.

  6. Hey Schadrak,

So yes there is this system known as "Gold Sharing". So someone who has gold on their home Xbox can share games they bought with other people on the Xbox. Assuming your daughter did not buy any of the games, they are linked to your account. The only way
this would work is to set your daughters Xbox as your home Xbox if she wants to play your games.

However, you can only have one home Xbox at a time!

You can find out more about gold sharing here: Xbox Live Gold Sharing Features on Xbox One | Xbox Live Gold

You can find out more about Home Xbox here: My Home Xbox Setting on Xbox One | Share Your Xbox One

    I hope this helps.

So, we are going to go on the assumption your tag in addition to having purchased the games, is also the account with the gold membership attached to it.

You have 2 sets of licenses when you buy a game. The license that is attached to the tag that purchased the game, and the home console of the tag. So setting your daughters console as your home is fine. That way she can play all of the games you purchased
while at school without you nedeing to be logged in. As for you, since your tag was the purchaser of the games, you can play the games and access them from any console you are currently logged into. So even though the console in your house would not be your
"home" console anymore, you would still be able to access the titles.

For xbox gold, same principal applies. The console you set as home will be able to share gold to anyone logged into it. So your daughter will be able to access xbox live content while at school even though her account isn't gold, since you set that console
as your home. Since your tag is gold, you will still be able to access live content from any console you are logged into.

The only thing to note, is when anyone comes to your actual home now (like your daughter if she comes home from school) since you console at the house is no longer the home console, your gamertag would have to be logged on for any of the titles or gold to
work. You could change the console your home is on up to 5 times a year. SO in theory you can change the home console back to your actual console at home during breaks, but that would be the only thing to really keep in mind.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks all.. seems like they dropped the ball on this since it really makes me think I'm better buying physical discs. She lived with me, I had a console, I bought all the games there "as me". She's leaving, has her own console, I want to give her all the
games I bought "for her" that I never played and don't play.. having to set her console at college to my home console is irrational. I'll do it since it seems there is no option since they don't let you transfer digital game licenses , but it's pretty asinine,
    imo.

This is the change with the move to digital content everywhere we will all have to get used to. Until there is the ability to sell / transfer digital licenses, this is really the best option out there. The good news is at least there is a way to achieve
what you are looking to do.
