Daughter Getting Stalked on Xbox

I understand nothing will be done about him if it is just a single report.

Which seems odd if bullying / stalking is focused on one player.

EVERY report gets reviewed by a real human being by the Enforcement Team. However, as they literally get thousands of reports each day, they have a tool that collects reports in a database, cues them on "reliability" and "importance", and presents these
reports to the Enforcement Team.

If a person sends in a report, and has sent in multiple "correct" reports in the past, the "reliability" of that person causes their report to bubble up faster. Additionally, if multiple people report someone for the same thing in short succession, the "importance"
of that report goes up and it gets looked at faster.

So if your daughter never has reported someone, and no one else has reported that person in that time, it might take a few days for her "average reliability" and "average importance" report to get reviewed. But rest assured, the report WILL BE reviewed,
and if they find a violation against the Xbox Live Terms of Use or Microsoft Community Guidelines, action will be taken accordingly.

Even if your daughter has falsely reported in the past and would have a "low reliability", they would still look at the report, but it just takes a bit longer.

If her friend(1) unfriends him(2) will he(2) still see him(1) on his friends list? Hopefully the numbers will clear that question up

Unless the friend(1) also blocks him(2), 2 will still be able to see him on his friendlist. He(2) is then considered a "follower" for (1), and depending on 1's privacy settings, 2 has a limited view on 1 (as he is not a friend anymore).

If you are the parent and set up your daughter's own Gamertag Account as a child account, you can set her account privileges regarding communications to "Friends only", which means, only people that are already on her friend list can hear her. Even if the
stalker should be in the same chat party, the stalker can't hear what she says, and she can't hear him.

Additionally, she can bring up the stalker's gamertag profile and block as well as mute him. That way she'll appear offline to him, and any messages he sends to her via Xbox Live will be blocked and never reach her. However, as soon as
she sends a message to him, the block is lifted!

To prevent the stalker from getting into parties in the first place, have your daughter set up a Xbox chat party to require an invitation. That way she can invite her friend, but the stalker can't join them (unless he's invited by someone else).

As long as the stalker has no means to join an online match or participate in a "peer to peer" hosted chat (like a Party on Xbox Live, Skype call, or something similar), the stalker would be unable to get your home's current IP address, so they can't initiate
the DDoS attack.

However, if the DDoS attacks continue, have your ISP log these DDoS attacks, and collect information about the stalker, and report him to the police. Also get your ISP involved, as the DDoS attack is disrupting their service for their paying customers. As
DDoS attacks are illegal in most countries, you and the ISP can then press charges.

Also talk with your daughter to not engage with the stalker in any way. If he's chatting her up on SnapChat (which I don't use, so my advice might not work), have her block his account from contacting her. Make it clear to her, that she should never give
out any information to anyone on the internet.

as its ddos then microsoft cant do anything about that as that happens outside their network and they cannot see that, get the isp to change your ip and make sure she does not join a party with her friend as he can join her friends party and gain your
IP each time. until her friend decides not to allow that person to join parties it would be best if your daughter does not join any parties with them, also report and block the gamertag associated with that person.

Thanks for the reply. Our router assigns dynamic IPs so rebooting seems to help, for a while.

She, along with my son, have set all the privacy options between their two accounts so he is unable to contact either of them again. My concern is that other friends of hers have him as a friend. Not sure why...

She has blocked him on SnapChat but taken screengrabs of the messages he was sending her. She didn't give him her information she thinks he must have overheard it while telling someone else - she used to go to school with - in party chat.
