Data Usage for Live and Online Gaming.

I am interested in knowing how much data usage gets used in a typical 1 hour session of online gaming?

How much data is used when watching a typical 2 hour movie? I am interested in joining the Microsoft movie cloud that's already built in.. so I am curious.

And I am sure typical surfing data and how many apps will vary usage as there are things running in the background depending on what you agree to. Not sure if there is a technical answer for that one?

Am I missing any other online live services that use data?

Gaming and data usage

Recently moved to a new home out in the country-ish (borderline of being in the country and being near estates) and I forgot to look for one thing before I moved here and that's internet service. So now I'm stuck out here with satellite internet, AT&T has
all their ports filled. Satellite internet just doesn't have the latency for my gaming, so now I'm considering switching to 4G Wi-Fi. Did my research and yes I know 3G/4G still isn't as great as DSL or cable internet, but its better than satellite. I need
to know how much data usage I need though, before I go through with it. If any of you guys/gals use Wi-Fi how much data do you use in a month and how much do you play and do other things that use data?

These are estimates of a day of using the internet a lot, but a varies day by day, but this would be the worst, with both the gf and I using the internet:

5-15 hours of gaming, sticking with console games only (no PC)

1-3 hours of internet browsing

Occasional shows/movies watched on Netflix (willing to give this up, since I know it uses quite a bit)

If you happen to be using some type Wi-Fi, can you please tell me what you're using and how your gaming is. Any help is appreciated and you'll get a cake.

under 20 gig a month sounds good, always had that till my isp upped it

what kind of cake are you giving out, Carvel ice cream cake is my fav.

On the xbox one,go to your settings,then network & there should be an option to see how much data you use.

You would be able to work it out from there.

Kind of a tricky question to answer accurately because data usage in online gaming can vary a lot. Hosting the match, having more players in the match, more people using voice chat will all raise the amount of data being downloaded/uploaded. If possible,
the best thing to do is measure the bandwidth usage while gaming over a number of hours and then calculate an average per hour. I don't know how to measure bandwidth usage on an Xbox 360 though.

If you are talking about internet plans, online gaming uses a lot of data and can be particularly bothersome for users with plans that are limited on usage. If this is your case then your options are limiting the amount of time spent playing online games,
or an unlimited internet plan. A good portion of the game Happy Wars is playing with others online and will use a lot of data.

Tried to post a picture of the cake, but it didn't work. Currently under a 2 yr contract for my satellite internet, so I might try to find a cheap 4G Wi-Fi provider just for gaming and use the satellite internet for everything else. As far as Wi-Fi for cell
phones go, think you can find plans with unlimited data, but Wi-Fi that can be used for laptops or anything else that can use a Wi-Fi connection, yea it gets expensive in the U.S. Wish the head honchos that provide cable/dsl would stop being cheap and extend
their coverage or add more ports in my area. A lot of homes around here and they'd easily make their money back. Thank you for any help that was given, the cake was a lie.
