Data usage for downloads

Hi just got the kinnect bundle with several games come with the codes for downloads. I knew I would use data to download but so far for 2 games I have used 55 gigabytes in download and 5 gig in uploads, I am new to this so is this normal. Seems very excessive
to me.

Unexplained bandwidth usage

Today I noticed a huge spike in data usage through my internet service. After some searching, I discovered my Xbox One was the culprit. According to the bandwidth usage page under network statistics, It used approximately 68 GB total, averaging about 18
GB per hour for almost four hours. I was online at the start of this usage, but most of it occurred while I was offline. This amount of usage is beyond anything that would incur from streaming, so it must have been a download. However, I did not start
any download and nothing new has appeared on my console. Is there a way to figure out what this data usage was for? This accounts for nearly 7% of my monthly data allowance, so I am a little upset about this usage which appears to have been for nothing.

support have said, you cannot check your data usage on xbox1, if you can check data usage on windows, surely it would be quite easy for Microsoft to include this function in xbox, at least one can budget ones data

 

This is very normal. If you have data caps on your internet you are better off buying games on disc when possible because it will save on your data usage. However, installing from disc can take forever, if you do not disconnect your console from the internet
before doing it because any updates that the game needs fight against the installation.

 

Alternatively if you can borrow the disk versions of the game from a friend or a DVD rental place. Install the games offline, reconnect to live, then redeem the digital game codes. This then should override the retail versions of the games you installed
via disk and make them digital versions of the games. This should save your download quota. I did this method with Forza 5.

 

Awe...sorry u have data usage issues, I can imagine how that would be unfair...good luck...

 

Very normal.. XBOX ONE & PS4 are what they call "Bandwidth Hogs". If you have limited bandwidth it's good to either upgrade your data allowance or go unlimited if possible. Since you just got it, you have to play in account the i setup for XBOX ONE, games
have to be downloaded, etc. When I first got my XBOX ONE back in April, in one day Is used over 35GB. Where normally my daily average is around 5 or 6.

Now don't let this worry you. You wouldn't always use a high amount of bandwidth per day. I can play XBOX all day and that day I've used 7GB that also includes my parents using their computers and me using mine. It's just when you update and/or get new games,
where your bandwidth will go up.
