    Data transfer issue


    I have an original Xbox 360, and was running out of room. I decided to purchase the bigger 320GB hard drive, and a data transfer cable as I was running out of room and all I play is GTA5 and BF4, deleted most everything else off the HD. I read the directions
    that came with the transfer cable carefully, and followed them perfectly. It started the process just fine, getting to 5 of 242 items transferred. Switch back to watch tv and let it do its thing. 15 minutes later I switch back to Xbox input, and the screen
    is white and black checker board, and I cannot do anything, specifically cancel. I power down because that seems to be the only logical thing. Wait 30 seconds and power back up. Get 3 red lights. Follow the forum that explains what to do when you get the
    red lights, mine remains amber on a different circuit. So apparently I have to have it repaired. More insight on that would be great.

    My question is, am I to assume my transfer failed, and *** up my existing hard drive, and potentially the new one? Will that effect my xbox account and my game accounts?

    It's the E console 4gb model with no hard drive inside the console. And I'll try the solution tommorow you gave me get NOTORIOUS.

    i think you have corrupted you HDDs which isn't exactly ***'d it but the data on them. The only thing i can think to try is a system update with a flash drive

    support.xbox.com/.../system-updates-info

    And hope that it kick starts the xbox into downloading the the run data it needs the do the transfer again, but DO NOT change the channel on the tv as HDMI is a 2 way uplink and can stop the xbox doing what it is meant to do

    Don't assume just yet that your drive is corrupted. It could of transferred everything successfully and went idle after not having disconnecting it while watch TV. The only real way is to save the HD, get console repaired. Connect the HD to another console
    (e.g. friends) to check if it worked. If it is corrupted which I bet it's not, it will not harm the console.

    I haven't done what you've told me to do, but what's the difference between a third party transfer cable and a genuine microsoft transfer cable because mine is gray and it has microsoft on it,but I can't tell what type it is.

    G'day Labb!

    One more question to help clarify the situation: Did your new Xbox 360 E console come with a 250GB Hard Disk Drive, or is it the 4GB internal memory model? Let's confirm by

    checking the hard drive storage slot on the side of the console    .

    If that slot is empty, then the 3GB memory unit you're seeing is the bulk of your console's current storage. A removable HDD can be purchased individually.
