Hi. I recently bought a 4GB Xbox 360 Slim, to replace an old Xbox 360. The old Xbox had a 60GB external hard drive attached, which holds all the acheivements, Gamer Tag info, games ect.

I want use this info on the XBox 360 Slim, but the HDD obviously doesn't fit it. If I got a data transfer cable, would this give the Slim access to the info on the HDD without actually transfering it (obviously to do this I'd have to buy an additional HDD
as 60GB is a lot more than 4GB).

How to transfer data from memory unit to hard drive?

You can get a transfer cable and move the data from the Xbox to tbe hard drive

ok so i guess that solves my issue there ha. so is better to transfer your xbox live profile or recover it on your new system?

The transfer cable is only meant to transfer data from one Xbox hard drive to another. You would not be able to keep the 60gb connected and use the hard drive like that. The data would have to be transferred to another hard drive.

Yeah that data transfer cable is for the new hard drives not the old xbox 360 hard drives ive checked about locally and all the cables are either the new version of data transfer cables or the ones that do fit mine are OEM knock offs which they advise not
to connect to the xbox only a pc, also the store link you showed me is US im in the UK

how do you reformat it? and why do you think its not necessary? i just dont want my profile accessed anywhere else

Content will be erased. If you want to be certain it's gone you could reformat the old drive once the transfer is complete but it's not really necessary.
