Dashboard loads slowly

Hi, it's some time now that my console is very slow to load or return to the Dashboard. Its very slow when it starts up, and it is also slow when I leave a game and return to the Dashboard. It seems to freeze at the gray screen with the rotating icon (see
attached image).



I've measured it, and last time it froze on that screen (with the rotating swirl frozen) for more than 40 seconds.

After some time it somewhate wakes up, and everything works fine,

What could be the cause? I've already cleaned the HD, and also initialized the console back to factory defaults, but the problem remained.

Any help..?

When I tested the console after disconnecting each external device and the HDD, it loaded just as slowly going to the dashboard. I tested it again, but the same result occurred. Without the external devices (while having the HDD attached), the dashboard
loads slowly still. Playing games and doing anything that avoids the dashboard specifically runs just fine, whereas the dashboard is painfully slow to appear. This makes me think that memory may not be the issue, but I am open to more suggestions.

Maybe redownloading the last system update would help. Hilight your hard drive and push LB RB X LB RB X

I am sorry to hear about your console being slower than normal. If you wouldn't mind, I have something for you to try.

It's entirely possible that your console may be a little bogged down due to needing its system cache cleaned out.

Below are the instructions of how to do so:

• Restart your console.
• Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller (center "X" button on your controller).
  
• Go to System Settings, and then select Storage.
• Highlight your internal storage device (Hard Drive or Internal Storage), then press Y.
  
• Select Clear System Cache, then confirm by selecting Yes.
• After the process completes (it will likely be fast!), restart your console.

Hi, thanks for reply. I had already tried cleaning system cache (searched the web before posting here) with no effect. As already said, I've also restored my console to factory settings, but the problem remains.

Does the same thing occur when using a different profile (xbox live account)?

Also try to see what happens when you remove the hard drive (if there is one to be removed) like mentioned here:

support.xbox.com/.../add-remove-hard-drive

Does it result in any change?

These steps can help determine the cause of the problem

 

Hi, thanks for reply. Yes, I've already tried switching account and removing hard disk. As said, I've made some google search before posting, and tried every suggestion found.

That happens to my Xbox as well....Is it the older one?

 

yes, it's one of the last versions of the old model, I believe.

 

So to be clear removing hard drive or using a different profile, doesn't change anything?

It remains slow?

Are there any usb flash drives connected?
