OK, this is turning into a flame war and I don't understand why. I was honestly interested in your take on what you think is better about DkS2, something you still have not divulged. I was also interested in asking that you not use a term that is derogatory
towards people who are not the target of your ire (an ire that I happen to share, as I think low-level griefers are sociopaths). This has somehow turned into you being upset with me and derogatory towards me, which was never my intention.

I don't understand why you are upset with me. I don't understand why asking you to not use certain terms that are hateful is so upsetting to you. I don't understand why you feel the need to lash out at me and call me names. I don't understand why you
don't actually read what I'm saying and instead react to things that I've never said (for instance, I never said that I only respond to things that I agree with as that is almost the exact opposite of what I said and how I've been conducting myself in this
discussion). I don't understand why you think I'm telling you what to do.

As for life being fair or unfair, yes it's unfair. For some people, it's a lot more unfair than for others, pretty much by default and due to the color of their skin, the gender they are, who they are attracted to, etc. Yes, life can be unfair, but it's
up to us as humans to try and correct those imbalances, especially in cases where it's unfair for characteristics that people have no control over. People don't choose to be born with a specific skin color, or as a specific gender, or with attractions to
specific other people, and to accept that the unfairness, that we as humans place upon people like this, is just part of life is not really something that I can shrug off, because much of it is completely unnecessary and due to biases that we can combat. If
people everywhere could keep an open mind about how they can help to correct man-made imbalances in life, it would be a nicer world for everyone.

So let me get this straight (no offense lol, but you probably got offended anyway), you only respond to things you agree with? You really seem to concern yourself with how people act, whether in Dark Souls or life...you should let other people get offended
on their own, don't work so hard doing it for them. Here's to you Red, white-knighting the deep sub-forums of the internet. By the way, "please" don't tell me what to do. That's the end of my rant on a video game forum.

@Fly, agree 100% with our society largely not being able to handle anything that could possibly offend another group. Heaven forbid someone's feelings get hurt or they don't get what they want - they might just realize that life isn't fair and that just
isn't fair.

At least we can all agree that the Monastery Scimitar was broken and deserved the nerf. Although, I do miss using whips on those people (don't get any crazy ideas Red, I meant no offense) that used them.

The reason I didn't address the rest of Fly Guy's points is because he was being critical of DkS2. Did you not understand that? It was not my intent to defend DkS2, so I felt no need to address points that I largely agree with.

Secondly, I fail to see how it perpetuates hatred to ask people not to use hateful terms. Would you use the n-word to describe someone whose actions you don't like, whether you know they are black or not?

Lastly, I agree with you on the Frigid Outskirts. Pretty much all the "challenge areas" of the DLC are terrible IMO.

I agree with you that low-level griefers are terrible people, because in reality they are sociopaths. That's still no reason to use derogatory terms that affect others that are not griefing. Would you call them the n-word in order to be derogatory towards
them? As for offense, it's much easier to "cowboy the F up and carry on," when you are not on the receiving end. In reality, that offense, however, is thrust onto some groups on a pretty much daily basis, and sometimes it bleeds over into violence. Please
don't feed into that.

As for the monastery scimitar, I said that I agreed with the nerf to the parry frames. I'm not sure if you were trying to agree with me or argue with me on that score, but it seems we are in agreement there.

I'm going to agree with R3d P01nt on this one.

DkS1 was the better game overall. But that is taking into consideration the entirety of the game. Soul Memory atmosphere/lore (in my opinion this is where they really dropped the ball) and changes in mechanics. The layout of the world, I miss being able
to circle around in a short cut back to where I was. Some of the bosses have strange abilities that feel cheap. For example the covitous demon, while an easy boss he shouldn't be able to turn as fast as my character's sprint speed. Or how the smelter demon
cannot be melee'ed without taking chip damage. Overal the feel of the game was changed, i'm not even sure what exactly it was but I'm sure you know what I mean.

That being said and I'm sure I'll get some heat for this but I actually like the changes to poise in DKS2! Poise-stacking for backstabs was really annoying, yes you could counter-stab them but it still took a lot of fun out of the pvp. And I also REALLY
like the guard break for punishing the turtles and greatshield BS fishers. I like the new infusion system. (Does anyone else thing raw infusion on sheilds should up the physical damage reduciton while lowering the elemental reduction?) I also like
how now every weapon is viable with the proper build, even previously worthless stuff like the mailbreaker and whips. I like how dex scaling isn't the end all anymore. And while I know people say that the strength boost is higher than dex on weapons with the
same letter scaleing all I can say is.... GOOD! Fast weapons should NOT get the same amount of damage boost as slower weapons. (Just my opinion)

What don't I like? Despite hating people that fish for backstabs I also hate the DUMB crap like jester's chest piece and the turtle armor. Why? Because it encourages sloppy play. Why learn to properly use a Ultra Great Sword when you can just swing
away without worry about being punished for it.? I have also seen LOTS of backstab fishers wearing the jesters chest.... Hypocrites. If I was fromsoft I would compleatly delete the gower's ring, and
I would re-work the jester's so not only can you not be backstabed but the person wearing it ALSO cannot backstab.

I hate the de-spawning of enemies. Sorry, but being able to just kill something 12 times and have it gone takes away a lot from the game. In DKS1 you had to beat them or run past them. Period. It forced you to learn a tactic to avoid them or actualy beat
them. I also HATE the fact that you can rank down in the arena. It turned it into a spam fest of cheeze. Everyone is going for the cheapest/easiest possible kill because they want to make that (insainly high) 500 rank. The arena should be about fun, not a
tedious grind.

And speaking of grinding. If you are going to have an enemy that only spawns once and drops rare gear, then the gear
should have a 100% drop rate!!! Farming for asetics so I can farm for gear isn't fun.

I really am quite happy with and enjoy DSK2. It was a great game. But there was just something speacial about DSK1. I enjoyed making new characters and running through the game again and again. In 2 I just... Don't. I play the 4 characters I have
and everytime I go to start a new one, I'm burned out on it before I make it past the iron keep. I'm not even sure why. And that is what really bugs me.

I hear ya R3d - but at the point where the novelty wears off - aren't most of us at soul memory levels that don't really affect the ability to find good PvP matches? ...and if it's PvP you really want - aren't there enough PvP specific features in the game
to make it easy to get into a battle. For me, finding matches in the Blood Brothers convenant worked great, getting invasion/invasion-assistance requests by wearing the right convenant rings worked well, using/consuming red soap stone and dragon signs has
worked well. I'll admit - I haven't spent a ton of time in DS2 doing PvP stuff - but it has seemed to work pretty well so far.

I'm aware that a lot of people have complaints about soul memory but, if they had kept everything the same as it was in DS1 - then everything would just be complaining about it being the same game. From is never going to appease everyone but, from what I've
seen and experienced so far, I don't have any complaints about the PvP or Co-op aspects of DS2.
