Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin not downloading.

I have just bought the physical version of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin for Xbox One. Popped the disc in, started downloading an essential update, and it keeps saying "Installation stopped" whenever I reach 756 MB. I have tried: shutting off the
console, pausing the update, cancelling and restarting the update, shutting off the Xbox by unplugging the AC cord, removing my external hard drive. None of these have done anything. I have restarted my internet and tried using a cable connection. I am able
to download the game without the update straight from the disc without any problems, but without the update I can't start the game.

All of these threads are from 2020, and so it's clear that this is a new issue that is seriously affecting people's ability to play this game. Additionally, these threads all lead nowhere, or are shut down by Microsoft employees before an answer is found.

Please provide a fool-proof solution to this issue, or figure out what is causing this game to glitch out in this way.
