Dark Souls games on demand no updates

I am writing this post to let Microsoft and players know that the games on demand version of Dark souls, which just became free with gold, has no updates for it. The game will not even prompt you to download any of the updates you get on the disc version.
I have proof of this as one of the earliest in game merchants doesn't sell an item titled Bottomless Box, which was patched into the game previously. Please fix this issue as it is affecting players worldwide and noone should have to play a broken game.

Download issues after purchase

I just purchased Dark Souls earlier today on the xbox on demand store. I, then, canceled the download for later on. But, when i went back to the download history, it didn't show Dark Souls on there. Any Ideas???????

most on demand games have the update already built in with the on demand version so there's no need to see an update message. Since it's already with the game.

 

Forgot to mention if the updates truly aren't there try clearing the system cache first and if that doesn't work delete the game and reinstall it. To clear the cache follow the steps in this link

but like I said if that doesn't work delete the game and reinstall it. If that still doesn't work then the only other option is to contact xbox support or the game company themselves.

 

crazywilliam999 is wrong, the game definitely running patch 1.0. For one you can't see saves from retail disk since they are updated to newer version.

Also you can see that online is completely barren from blood stains and you can't actually interact with people on retail disc. Also game has pre-patch difficulty (not very well balanced) as well as lot of framerate issues that were mostly fixed after patch
on retail disc.

We need to get Microsoft attention on this matter and fix digital version.

 

Yes same thing is happening to my version. I tried clearing cache and re-downloading both did not work.. microsoft will have to resolve the issue unfortunately.

 

Any particular place we can get updates on whether Microsoft is even aware of/trying to fix this? I'd rather like to be able to enjoy the game, but from everything I've read the unpatched version has a pile of problems.

 

I posted this to the
www.bandainamcogames.co.uk webpage hoping they'll see it there as well. Maybe if we can get the word out the update for the game will follow. I'll take your word for it being 1.0 as I would not know one way or another. However, if it's on version 1.0, it
needs to be patched asap.

 

From what I've been able to glean, ways to test easily are how many souls the Asylum Demon drops (1000 unpatched, 2000 patched), and the messages when lighting a bonfire are 'You Light The Bonfire' (unpatched), and 'Bonfire Lit' (Patched)

I am still getting the former, in my short sojourn into the game, to see if this was fixed.

Has there been any public acknowledgement of this from Microsoft? Google seems to show disparate results on that.

 

I can confirm that the free version of the game is indeed NOT patched and does not offer the User the option to update and patch the game. This is very annoying because it stops the Users who downloaded the free digital copy from being able to play online
as well as having various issues that were patched.

I to wonder if this is known yet. I hope so because I don't plan to play this game with out the patch myself. Its more fun being able to play online with others as well as have the various issues fixed. I guess I'll make a trip to Support.

 

at the time I didn't know the on demand version of the game was broken. So ignore my first 2 posts but what I said was true though most games from on demand do come with the patch already built in and don't require an update. Anyway hopefully this get's
fixed shortly.

 

Game updtaes are normally included with a demand version.

There is an update downloaded with Dark Souls but obviously not the latest one i would assume.

 

^ yep it's not the latest one, the game is stuck at 1.0 and won't update at all.

It is odd considering this was just re-released or updated on the xbox store on 5/21/2014 one would assume that this version should in fact have the latest update however it does not. I would say to those that want to play from a previous save file and obviously
cannot to save that progress to a thumb drive before starting a new game.
