Dark Souls Bug with Covetous Gold Ring - XBOX one Backwards Compatibility Only.

Issue: The Covetous Gold Serpent Ring does not boost item discovery (or at least gives the feedback as it should) The Item Discovery Stat stays the same whether it is equipped or not. This only occurs through the backward compatibility version of the game.
The same is true with the Symbol of Avarice.

Xbox One Backward Compatibility Troubleshooter. If none of the steps there help please be sure to fill out the included survey near the end so that we can provide the information
of your issue to the appropriate team.

 

Some friends of mine and I are also having this issue. This ring is said to be the best way to farm for some of the rarer dropping items in the game, most of which are linked to achievements. We are all hoping that "From Software" or "Namco Bandai Games"
can get this looked at since it appears to be from playing it on the xbox one backwards compatibility, which has been the only place I seem to find this probelm or report thereof.

 

I have a suspicion it is a cosmetic problem, not a real one, because White Séance Ring and Darkmoon Séance ring both have the same problem--the "attunement slot" counter doesn't bump when you equip the ring, but the effect of the ring (an additional attunement
slot) does get applied.

In any case, it's a bug, and I reported it to the backcompat team. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

Hey guys. The ring does not work, it is not just cosmetic. I have trouble farming certain items that should not take this long. I have also reported it to the team and hope it gets sorted.
