  2. I don't play as a Pyromancer so I can't really give any advice but I did have a hilarious invader who was a Pyromancer. They kept shooting fireballs at me, which I kept dodging. I usually don't wear armor but this person
was so bad at shooting me that I actually just put on the Armor Of Thorns set (I think that's what it's called) and I basically killed them by rolling into them repeatedly. lol I laughed for quite a while. Good times...

Hi Az. As I mentioned in my first post I'm not to savvy with the lingo dude.

" Buffed ". Am I right in thinking when a weapon is buffed it has increased HP via my stats, ie' int/faith. Or Increased HP via increasing the power of what ever weapon casts it?.

Also what is the difference between scaling and buffing. I'm such a noob on these sorts of games.

    Cheers Maple

If something is "Buffed" it is more powerful or has a bonus added.

So if you have a regular sword and apply one of the resins you get a temporary elemental or magical buff; i.e. the attack stats are higher for a little.

If you infuse a weapon you get a permanent buff as the a attack stat increase is permanent.

In the case of the Gnaw Spell I mentioned the Buffed version is just a really strong version of Gnaw. I'll look up the exact name for you the next time I'm in my game.

    Cheers Az.

I've not played any PVP stuff Goth. As it's the first in the series I've ever played I thought I'd learn the ropes in the PVE.

I posted a long drawn out message with my stats in earlier, however it seems to have disappeared into the either. Dark Souls 3 Any Pyro Experts. :(

    The spell is "Dorhy's Gnawing".

If you've been to the Undead Settlement Dorhys the Evangelist is the big lady with the glasses and wide brimmed hat who tries to smack you with her giant pole or clout you with her book.

She will also cast Gnaw at you and if you've ever been hit by it you'll know you don't want to be hit by it again.

Your staff will affect the damage your spells and miracles cast (this is actually a Dark Miracle cast with a Chime or a Talisman - it's also a Dark spell meaning that it will do more damage if you cast it with a Chime or Talisman that buffs Dark damage).

I can't really fault your stats as long as you are benefitting from a weapon that scales well with Dexterity.

The stats you should be worried about are Equipment Load.

100 - 70.1 = You shall roll with the grace and speed of a drunken mule.

70 - 30.1 = You should be able to dodge it if you time it right.

30 - 0.00 = Your Ninja Certificate is in the post.

This means that you can protect yourself / carry gear up to 70% so take full advantage.

Yeah cheers dude. I just bought a ring with a boss soul that gives me 15% more carry weight. I've read you can up this but I have no idea where to upgrade it, Andre has nada. Just about to head into the Catacombs now. I'm kind of at the point now though
were I'm loathed to spend anymore Titanite or cash on my weapons as I'm thinking something else will just be around the corner. Is it safe to assume I will need a Dark Staff or Talisman, and one better will be around the corner, the same with my Astora Sword?.
Or should I keep throwing everything at the weapons I have?. I have about 15 shards, 2 Twinkies, maybe 6/7 differing Gems. 25k souls. I could do with a rather heavy weapon to be fair, maybe a Halbert or a Mace. The initial stats are pretty low, around the
130/150 mark. Plus my Dex and Str stats are quite low. Kind of at a balancing point now where I'm unsure whether to put souls into magic or melee.

Regarding the Equip Load. I always keep it below 70. Just managed to squeeze a Dark Knight top on, currently at around the 69'8. Is it worth piling a load into Vitality?. You think I'll regret not doing it later on in the game?.

Cheers for your help up to now dude, appreciate it Dark Souls 3 Any Pyro Experts. :)

You can be 70% and still be ok. As soon as you're .01 over 70% you will "fat roll" (try it you'll know why it's called that).

You should level up the weapons you love.

You should also understand them a little so as to get the best out of them.

If you really love an Ultra Greatsword... Pyromancer isn't the best guy to use it because it's purely a strength weapon.

There are weapons in the game that need a bigger Dex and even Faith and Intelligence stat to wield. These are no good to Strength guys as they don't have the stats to use it effectively.

(remember if you fall short of the stats to use it effectively, try using it with 2 hands... if the X disappears you can use it like a normal person as long as you keep it 2 handed).

If you find a weapon you love (that isn't completely alien to your build) then why not pump just enough stats to use it effectively.

I used the Butcher Knife because it scaled well to my strength and has a nice buff but I don't really like the weapon but it was necessary early on.

I moved to the Great Mace because I fell in love with that thing and it smashes crabs.

But when the Black Knight Greataxe dropped for me... that was it... and I've been using it ever since.

So don't be afraid to experiment a little and why not even google "What are good weapons for Pyromancers"?

Remember, with Carthus Flame you can use your Pyromancy to make most weapons a fire weapon.

As for Vitality... that helps with Equipment Load.

Don't neglect it... but if you're not gonna run around in giant oversized armour with a shield the size of a car... you don't need it through the roof.

Keep it high enough to compliment the gear you're using.

Hope some of that is helpful.

Remember with your stats though... if you have a big mace you can swing twice for 250 damage... and a longsword you can swing 5 times for 150 damage that's 500 damage with the mace... 750 damage with the longsword.

    Thanks again dude.

This Astora Sword has done me proud since day one to be fair. I know how it works and how many hits I can get in. I'll probably stick with that for now then. My fear is getting another higher weapon I can use and not having the shards etc'c to boost it up.

I just got that Carthus flame from the Catacombs, I've not bothered with it yet as I can use magic sword sorcery to buff it.

When I initially chose Pyro I chose it as I wanted to be a ranged player. However, in a lot of situation it's just not do-able, I find the bow a little limp wristed and slow.

    It's always helpful dude.

    Thanks.

Ah good man Jambo. What was your weapon of choice through the first bit of the game?. I have a Raw Astoria+3. Got my Pyro to +3 too. Also what gear did you wear, I seem to go +70 with anything other than a my Cleric Robes and end up fat rolling. My other
issue is aiming with the Fireball. I'm currently taking on that fat Rotten Cursewood dude, its pain as I can't specifically aim at the certain orbs on his legs and a$$, so I have to go in with the sword, rendering any Pyro useless with this dude.
