Bummer, I thought this was a Dark Souls forum.

It is a Dark Souls forum. Since there was no official Dark Souls 2 forum, people started using this one for Dark Souls 2 as well.

Do you need help with something in Dark Souls?

Which boss? There are usually tons of signs at the first bonfire.

I bought DS2 on PS3, but I can still give you advice since I'm close to completing the game.

What boss are you talking about?

    *SPOILERS*

If you're talking about the Smelter Demon, I'd recommend a good shield with good physical and fire resistance, a Fire Quartz Ring (which can be obtained by using a Fragrant Branch of Yore on Rosabeth, the woman who was petrified at the entrance to Shaded
Woods, the one pulling the lever) or use an Orange Burr to boost your fire resistance. The Annone Knight (I think that's what they're called..) armor set has a decent amount of fire resistance so you could try that as well.

If you mean the Old Iron King, mobility is your friend, For his arm slams, just roll. When he's preparing to shoot fire out of his hand (which is one of his most deadly moves) you have to roll at JUST the right time to avoid it. I'd recommend being human
for this fight to summon a second player, because a second player to help makes this fight a lot easier, especially if they're using magic attacks at a distance. Make sure you have a good supply of Lifegems as well, they're faster than Estus flasks so you
can heal inbetween his attacks. Keep an eye out for the edges of the floor as well as the pit in the back. Upon entering the boss room, if you run to the right you'll have a spot of cover to heal unless he starts shooting fire out of his hand, which goes through
the wall and will knock you into the lava. Also consider having a good amount of Aromatic Ooze on your hands, because coating your weapons with it greatly increases damage dealt to him. I've heard dark resins work as well but I didn't use those when I fought
    him.

    *SPOILERS*

I was level 100 when I fought him, I had another player summoned and I managed to kill him. I'd try the Pit and Grave of Saints and The Gutter and Black Gulch before attempting Iron Keep if you haven't done those already. Another thing I'd recommend is having
a sword or a weapon that attacks FAST. I tried using a Greatsword +3 but it was so slow that I didn't have time to dodge his attacks because I was still in the middle of my attack animation. I used the *** Sword +3 or +4 and that worked well.

Sorry for the long post, just thought I'd go into some detail to give you an idea on what I did to defeat him. I wish I could help you but I didn't buy the game on my Xbox. Good luck!

Could someone perhaps tell me what im missing here, because I seriously have no clue where to go NeXT. I went Down from the bonfire at Mahula toward sinners rest. That way, and defeatet the final boss in that area. The game sent me back to Mahula, and the
woman told me I had obtained the soul of an old one, and that not many could say that. I then expectet the game to open up, but there dont seem to be anywhere else to go from Mahula, other than Down the pit LoL Not my first choice. I did try to backtrack from
the Servants quarters ,and ended up in this big cave with a ship, but the bridge ended, and it looked like a dead end.

If someone could give me a hint of where to go NeXT, and what im missing here, I whould be very greatfull. Thx

Ok I actually did make a bit Progress all on my own. Manedged to pull a couple of strings I missed the first time, and made my way to Heides something Tower I believe it was.So I guess im good. But you know those strings where easy to miss LoL

Anyway i'd still love to get a bit of insight into what I was missing Down in that cave with the big shipreck, and the bridge. I got the destinkt impression from watching the bloodstains that its not as simple as taking a leap of faith, and simply jump of.
If someone could tell me i'd love to know. Thx

    in Mahula.Wish me luck!

@SOB Buliwyf: Have you gone to Harvest Valley yet? To get down the Pit you need to go to Harvest Valley, make it to Earthen Peak and talk to an NPC named Laddersmith Gilligan I think. Go through all of his dialog and he should relocate to Majula, he'll be
by the pit and you'll have to pay him a pretty moderate amount of souls for him to build a ladder leading down.

The cave with the shipwreck, do you mean No-Mans Wharf? Have you fought the boss there yet? Defeating the boss there will allow you to use the ship to get to an area of the Lost Bastille which you couldn't have gotten to otherwise, I don't remember the specifics
but I think through that entrance you can gain access to Belfry Luna which is an optional area but I still recommend doing it if you want souls as well as a little bit of nostalgia. Keep in mind though that you WILL need a torch or two (or three if you're
gonna die a lot) for No-Mans Wharf. The enemies are frustrating but other than that the location itself is fairly straightforward, and the boss isn't too difficult either especially if you use ranged attacks (or just spam firebombs.)

If you haven't gotten through Harvest Valley and Earthen Peak, I strongly suggest you do so since you'll then gain access to Iron Keep, where you can get another major boss soul. In order to get to Harvest Valley, you need to defeat the Skeleton Lords boss
at Huntsman's Copse. There's an optional boss here as well, the Executioner's Chariot, at the Undead Purgatory. Defeating the Chariot will give you access to a bonfire as well as a convenant, the one that's PvP oriented, I forget the name.

Down the Pit, you'll have to go through a REALLY annoying place called The Gutter, and from there another place called Black Gulch which is literally just a linear path with a chest or two and then a boss fog gate, which gives you yet another major boss
    soul required for story progression.

You said you've already defeated The Lost Sinner at Sinner's Rise, so that's good.

In order to get the fourth and final major boss soul needed to progress in the story, you need a Fragrant Branch of Yore which you can find at numerous places, Harvest Valley as well as a few others. You need to use a Branch on a girl that's been turned
to stone while pulling a lever, and from there you'll have access to Shaded Woods. (You can access this place from Majula, it has no particular location name or bonfire but you will find an NPC with a giant blue sword there) You'll have to go to Doors of Pharros
and then Brightstone Cove Tseldora, where you will fight a boss and get the final soul needed to access a major location in-game.

To get to said location, I believe you need to go to the second bonfire at Shaded Woods and go on the path that's foggy and has ghosts. From there you'll find the Shrine of Winter and you'll need the four major souls gathered there as well as a certain amount
of regular souls I think, and the path will open.

Of course, that wall of text is MUCH easier said than done. It's taken me over 50 hours to get to the major in-game location I've been mentioning which I won't name because some people might consider it a spoiler.

    @SOB Buliwyf,

I would suggest heading to Huntsman's Copse next. When you found the way to Heide's Tower, you passed a contraption that you couldn't move. That's the way to Huntsman's Copse. To get it to move, you must talk to the woman who was at the second bonfire
in Heide's Tower and exhaust her dialog. After that, she will be at the contraption and you can pay her 2000 souls to move it for you. This gives you access to Huntsman's Copse, which eventually leads to Iron Keep and another of the major boss souls.

    @scifo223

You don't actually need Gilligan in order to go into the pit. If you buy the silvercat ring from the cat in Majula, you can drop down onto the planks and make it down to the bonfire in the area where the rat covenant is located. Also, you can access Lost
Bastille without going through No-Mans Wharf. If you deafet the Pursuer in Forest of the Giants, there's a path that leads you to a separate bonfire in Lost Bastille that is close to the boss fight there.

Thx for all the help Guys. Yesterday I was completely lost. As far as I was concerned there where only one route to go, and I had missed everything else. I had been Down by the route to Huntsman's Courps, but I dident have the contraption so when I found
the gates locked in the basement I wasent surprized, and dident bother to look around. Its all terrible embarrasing, but anyway I went Down the pit with the ring, and found a couple of options, and later on another place I missed to the left from the direction
    you first came into Majula.

Thx Again for all the help. Im going to study it now a bit further and see what I can learn. I'v opened up a good portion of the game, but I might need some help if im going to finish the game.

Thx Again its really good help. I was looking for directions, and I got it. Of course the real challenge is to put it all together and make sence of it. This helps tremendously. I feel like I got a pretty good idear of what I have to do NeXT.Good work

@red point the silvercat ring will not help unless you have the cheapest ladder. ive tried several times to try and survive the fall with it equipped to no avail.

@SOB buliwyf the part with the dock and the ship is how you get to lost bastille from no-mans wharf after defeating flexile sentry. go up to the other room after the boss fight where the pyromancy flame is. there will be a sextant looking device which will
take you to that dock. lost bastille is a confusing place but it leads to a couple places, including luna belfry. it kind of reminds me of a miniature labyrinth in that it has many places to go and a few dead-ends.

@PIRATE DUCK The Silvercat Ring does work without any ladders because I've done it. Had on Dragleic armour and 900+ health.

  15. Silvercat ring works just fine. You did something wrong.

Unless something changed from DS1, fall damage is the same for all characters. Just because you have more health doesn't mean you can survive falls that would kill someone with less health.
