Dark Souls 2 rated...T?

I found out about this today. Quite surprising to me, considering the first two games in the series garnered fairly solid "M" ratings. Any thoughts on how this rating outcome may/may not affect the game itself?

Bummer, I thought this was a Dark Souls forum.

It is a Dark Souls forum. Since there was no official Dark Souls 2 forum, people started using this one for Dark Souls 2 as well.

They were rated M? Why? I really don't get some of the ratings...

 

Yeah, I don't really truly see why Dark Souls was rated M. My guess is just because of Quelaag and the Fair Lady's half-*** and todays society.

Demons Souls was supposed to be worse, it had demon babies, a whole torture and stuff or something or another (so I've been told). Either way, I played dungeon crawlers all the time as a kid, and it's a Far Cry from other games that get M ratings like GTAV.
I feel GTAV could have almost gotten an AO rating.

 

I play Demon's Souls and I can't see how it'd be any worse than Dark Souls when it comes to this stuff. Sure, there are those plague babies but... M for that would be stupid. As for the torture and stuff, I can't even recall anything like it. It's just
like Dark Souls but with more challenge

 

I saw a skeleton's bare a?s. Maybe that was why rated M.
