Dark Souls 2..is PvP messed??

Have just starting playing some PvP in Dark Souls 2. Hacking destroyed my Dark Souls 1 experience and now Im finding some annoying issues with DS2.

Ive been trying to stay back using my Sorcerer yet im still getting hit when other players swing their weapons, regardless of range. Also players are not even facing me when they usually hit me. Add that with the constant "low poise thing"(which gets me
on my level 100 strength character too) PvP is almost impossible for me.

Are these hacks or is it just messed up.

How is PvP?

It has been quite awhile since I've played Dark Souls 1. I haven't been on it since Dark Souls 2 came out. I've been wanting to check it out again and PvP in the Forest, but I don't know how many people are actually still on the game. Anyone know if it is
still decently fast to invade/be invaded on here?

I miss this PvP, Dark Souls 2 PvP just isn't the same.

i hope you can switch off the forced pvp in Dark Souls as it was one of the biggest downsides that pretty much ruined my experience of the game.

i do not play Dark Souls for pvp and there are a few bosses that i cannot beat without co-op and i hope that enemies now attack other players who invade in Dark Souls 2.

 

1st of don't over use the word Hack. Makes people hate you. Its called modding. An no its just the lag in the game. Its a new game so where will be alot of lag regardless of who your fighting. They spends days when the game 1st came out to fix the problem
but they still cant fix the lag. Lag is what internet is all about. They to find a strategy that works best with you on bosses then up your still a little bit more and try it on NPC invaders, then do it on other players. Takes time.

 

Pvp is broken. Don't do it.

 

LOL at the idea that one can't use the word "hack." I understand that hacking and modding are 2 separate things (and, no, not all modding is hacking and vice versa as was implied) but really, to get bent out of shape because one was called out for hacking
when they were actually modding...it's all cheating and all contra the XBL ToS.

If someone is modding and they are going to hate me for calling them a hacker...too bad. They've got bigger issues to worry about than whether I correctly identified their brand of cheating.

 

How is hacking and modding different? I have build my character by playing game only. If you are modding to jack up your stats, especially HP, yet appear as a low level is that still not hacking? Its all "cheating" in my book. If there is a server that allows
that fine but some of us like to play legit.

 

Yes, it's cheating, and I agree with you that some of us like to play legit.

As for the difference between hacking and modding, I don't know if there's a universally accepted set of definitions that lay out what each act entails. Modding, from my experience, is about adding abilities or changes to a game in order to alter the details.
It's not always something that gives people an unfair advantage either. There are some wonderful mods for PC games, including one for Skyrim that changes the first dragon into Randy Machoman Savage. It's actually quite funny.

Hacking is when one changes attributes in order to gain a specific advantage over others, like unlimited health or ammo, etc. By this definition, players who do this are more often hacking than modding, even if they claim it's the other way round.

Other definitions of hacking would be going into computer systems that one is not authorized for, while modding would be simply changing the specifications inside the game. In that sense, one doesn't generally hack a game, but simply mods to get more health,
etc.

Realistically, there's no cut and dried standard for what the differences are, except to say that they are both cheating when it comes to PvP (although I'd allow changes, like ones that are strictly cosmetic, that don't actually help a person in PvP are
not really cheating).

There are also other types of cheating as well, like lag switching and using in-game glitches.

 

A broad definition of "hacking" is putting to use one's knowledge of computers. This can be malicious, non malicious, or both. Changing one's stats and attributes via a save editor is modding, but the person who created the save editor is a hacker.

 

The PvP can be so frustrating. I'm trying to get to that stupid rank 2 in bell keepres covenant but it's a real pain since 9 times out of 10 the lag leaves me wondering what just hit me. People hitting me from insane ranges, being backstabbed from insane
ranges, the opponents are on fire due to my sword yet they don't take damage... It's gotten to the point where I just spam the standard attack and wish for the best as there is 0 reason to even try with all the lag. Why couldn't they just let an NPC sell that
stupid spell instead?

 

Have you tried restricting regional play? It might lead to longer wait times, but it might help with lag.

 

I have it on. The thing is, the closest players I ever meet are from the UK and even that is 2000km+ from me so the pings won't be pretty to begin with...
