Where did she buy it from? You can try taking it back to store. For example, if she brought it from Walmart they can look up the receipt and maybe exchange it. It will be up the store manager.

Most gift cards are done by fast cards

If it is something like a receipt it's upto the store they will have a number to call (I always have a phone number to call be it shoppers sobeys or gamestop
