    Damage to XBox 360 disc


    I recently found a deep scratch on my GTA disc. It's not running circular with the grooves of the disc but completely vertical. I took the disc to be repaired at our local GAME store and it is now working fine, however the assistant said that the damage
    had not been caused by the XBox itself, that he had seen this type of thing before and that it was malicious damage, caused by an implement dragged down the disc.

    I'm trying to establish how this has happened as, besides me, only my daughter and nephew had played the game before I noticed the damage. I have no reason to suspect either of them caused this and they both deny anything other than playing the game and
    then removing it to play another - but if the assistant is correct then it appears one of them did.

    I'm now considering not allowing them to use the system, as it is mine, but seems extreme if they really are not to blame. Anyone offer any similar experience of this?

    The disc that goes into an Xbox 360 is as prone to damage as that of a conventional DVD. Cracks can be caused in the disc from mishandling, an accident or the drive in the Xbox 360 malfunctioning.

    What type of Xbox 360 is it? Slim? Has there been any physical damage to the disc tray?

    Disc scratches can happen in so many ways that it would be almost impossible to determine if it was malicious or not. Maybe when they took the disc out they were just a bit rough in doing so, or scraped it over something by accident without even knowing
    they did it. I would likely just pass it off as accidental unless the same thing happens to another game you own.

    Hello. Faced with the following problem. my xbox 360 has damaged the acne disk gta 5 now the game constantly crashes and warns of drive failure. After sightseeing drive I found it a circular scratch. Is it possible to download the game disk from the network
    and install or do I have to buy a new game. Thanks in advance

    For future reference you should create a new thread detailing your issue instead of bumping an older thread with a different problem.

    Your disc has been scratched due to the console being moved while the disc was in it and the console was on. You will need to either see if you can get the disc repaired or purchase a new copy (Disc or Digital).

    Also, if your console is standing on end then you should lay it flat to prevent scratches like this in the future.

    This may have happened because the disc is damaged or your disc reader is damaged. install halo reach to your xbox 360 hard drive and you should be able to play.

    To HELP prevent these sorts of damages to discs you can avoid moving your Xbox 360 when there is a game disc in it for one, especially road-trips. However, your Xbox 360 itself may have a defective and/or malfunctioning CD drive that is damaging discs. If
    this were so, you certainly shouldn't accidentally damage all of your games if this happens more than once until the CD-tray is repaired or replaced.

    Game should work on the console as doesn't require online services, but have you tried the disc on a different console? Could be crashing because is damaged, on Xbox 360 was common that a damaged disc, or a non original disc could cause that situation

    The other classic Xbox ganes are also on disc or digitall purchases?

    The problem is that you are trying to play several games that are 360 disc based on your xbox one and that are not part of the backward compatibility list. For example RE 4 has a new version for xbox one and you can't use the xbox 360 disc to play it (it
    will not read the disc at all)

    As for the rest of your disc based games (that are part of the bc list) check if they are scratched or damaged in the surface. There is no reason for a new console's disc driver to have problems in reading discs other than those caused by the damaged or
    unknown disc games
