  1. D4 Black Screen of Death

I have an issue with the game D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die.

I've only successfully gotten to the main menu in this game once. It goes through all the "Do you want to use kinect or a controller" crap and then goes to a black screen and sits there indefinitely. The one time I got it to progress to the menu screen was
the first time I chose kinect as the control device, so I thought choosing to use controller was the problem. So I quit out and tried again and selecting kinect still caused the never-ending black screen of death as well, so that's not it.

Just wondering if this is a known thing and might be fixed some time, or if there is a way to fix it that I can try. I have (obviously) tried quitting and shutting down the game and starting again, and I have done a proper power cycle of the xbox one and
none of it made any difference. All up, I've been stuck on a black screen around 15 times and made it to the menu once.

For the record, if the only way to "maybe" fix it is to delete and download it again, I will probably delete it, but that's it. I'm not really willing to waste time and space on the hard drive downloading 8.8GB again just to see if that fixes it.

I was supposed to be reviewing the game too. I'll give you one guess as to how I feel about it at the moment.

    :)

  2. D4 DD Black Screen

There's an issue with this game for me. When I try to continue my save and leave the room I am in I get a black screen, I can still hear the game audio and can move the cursor around but am unable to do anything.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? I've tried everything I can think of and would rather not start a new game D4 Black Screen of Death :(

    Thanks

    Hey there shadow walkerOZ!

Sorry to hear about this issue, I see how this could be frustrating. I would still suggest

    Uninstalling and Reinstalling
the game to see if that will fix the issue, along with a power cycle to clear your Xbox One console's cache. Follow the steps below to power cycle:

    • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
    • While the console is powered off, unplug the power cord from the back and let sit for 5 minutes.
    • Plug the power back in and power on.
    • Try launching the game to see if the issue is resolved.
If the uninstall/reinstall and the power cycle don't resolve this issue, please post back so we can help you further with this issue.

  5. I did the pull the power cable for 5 minutes and it changed nothing. Basically, I've had this game for a week now and have gotten it to start properly twice. Once it does decide to work, it works fine and the game is great. The problem is, I spend more time
    *** around than actually playing.

If you can guarantee that uninstalling and downloading again will definitely fix it, then I'll consider it. Otherwise I'll just end up uninstalling and moving on because I can't really afford to waste any more time downloading the whole game again to possibly
    end back where I started.

Well I can't guarantee that uninstalling/reinstalling will be the fix, but it's a useful troubleshooting step. Proceed with the uninstall, but before you reinstall, follow each power cycle step I listed above. The reason why I suggest that is when you power
cycle, it clears the system cache on the Xbox One console. Follow the steps and post back! D4 Black Screen of Death :)

  7. The reason I don't want to download the whole 8.8GB game again is because my internet has been playing up for the last 6 or 7 days now (basically since the day after I got the game).

I have however narrowed the problem down to the Xbox One itself.

Starting from about Thursday last week (Australian time, so about Wednesday in the US), every single time I turn on the Xbox One, the entire network slows down significantly and my internet starts to run at basically dial-up speeds.

How do I know it's the Xbox causing the problem? I turn it on, check my speeds (from my laptop) and get around 60Kbps download speeds. Turn it off and get 19Mbps. Did this several times with the same result every time.

This never used to be an issue and only started some time last week. Nothing in my home environment has changed, no new wireless devices around, nothing has been moved etc. It just started happening one day.

I am enrolled in the preview program, so it's possible that it updated overnight and now is essentially broken.

I don't know about you, but downloading 8.8GB over dial-up style speeds is not something I am willing to do.
