I have encountered a problem. When I want to play any game on Android through Xbox Game Pass app, I connect my Xbox Wireless Controller with my phone, but even though it's connected, the Xbox Game Pass app will not register my controller to be connected and says that one additional step is needed in order to play through Cloud Gaming on Android 11. Can you help me? I think I have tried everything.

    :)

    Hello Adam,

I have done everything you said, in order, but unfortunately it didn't work. To make it clear, the Xbox controller works in the Game Pass app but it doesn't work in-game. When I press any button for the first time right after the game loads, it shows me the message above. Is there any other way of solving my issue?

    Hello Kyle,

My phone is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. I have tried an app called Gamepad Tester and the app registered everything except the triggers (RT and LT).

Hi Dave L, my name is Adam.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble connecting your Xbox Wireless Controller to your Android phone while using the Xbox Game Pass app. Here are some steps that you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Make sure that your Xbox Wireless Controller is updated to the latest firmware version. You can do this by connecting your controller to your PC and using the Xbox Accessories app to check for updates.

    2. Ensure that your Android phone is running on Android 11 or later, as the Xbox Game Pass app requires this version of Android to work properly.

    3. Try resetting your Xbox Wireless Controller by holding down the pairing button on the back of the controller for 10 seconds, then re-pairing it with your Android phone.

    4. If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox Game Pass app on your Android phone.

    I hope this helps.
    Adam.

Sadly, controller support has been broken on this device for a while; it's an issue with the Android OS and Xiaomi would need to fix it in a software update. I advise reporting the issue to Xiaomi's support team: https://www.mi.com/global/support/contact/

Hi Dave. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

May I ask what phone you have?

Also, have you tested if the controller works in other apps or games on your phone?

    Thanks,
    Kyle
