Custom "Xbox" Kinect Voice Command.

For a few games i have noticed Kinect is required to play online. (Battlefield for example)

In general discussion while playing on the Xbox One you will often say the word "Xbox" in a sentence to your friends and completely forget that Kinect will register that voice command and "Start listening" This can get troublesome when apps start snapping
to the side screen while you are trying to play.

While playing Xbox, you are going to mention the word "Xbox" during general discussion many of times. (Eg) "I played that game on Xbox the other day" (Kinect will start listening as "Xbox" it is the voice command to do so)

I thought maybe if you were able to customize the "start listening" command, from "Xbox" to a not so common used expression. Like a nickname or something like that, you could combat the annoying snapping and listening the Xbox One does while playing. And
it would add some sort individuality to your Xbox One console. Who doesn't love to customize?

Not that sure if it is even possible with this console, i wrote this in pure hope as a simple idea.

Good luck getting it back into the country. Customs would almost certainly want a big nibble on the tax

I would use the derogatory used to describe a female dog as my nickname for it... but I do say that word a lot so maybe something else...

 

So you think that if Kinect picks up Xbox in the middle of a sentence, that it wouldn't pick up a different command in the middle of a sentence? Not very logical to me. Also I find the Kinect is actually very good at not picking up commands in the middle
of my sentences. So maybe your's is poorly calibrated or you speak too slow.

 

Sheesh....I think you miss the point Camaro...he would use a custom word that he is unlikely to every use in a sentence during normal conversation, whereas (and I agree) we tend to say Xbox quite a lot while playing with friends on the Xbox.

I told my brother I tried "Xbox Fitness" the other day...while playing BF4....it dropped my from the game and started Xbox Fitness!! Damn. Now I just say "X1" when I talk about it in conversation

 

I want to be able to name my Xbox Zuul. That way if someone asks where my Playstation 4 is, I can say "There is no PS4! Only Zuul!".

It will amuse me for a few minutes.

 

The could just take the "Xbox" command out of the equation and let us speak normally.

 

Ahh yes, but when the commands are too sensitive and to easy to say by accident, or what your saying sounds really close to a command, bad things can happen. Australian bloke lost an In-Form Nasri in a play for keeps FIFA 14 UT match because of a goal that
was scored against him when he accidentally trigged the 'home' command. It's a fine line, but trial and error and all that stuff.

 

I would like it but I bet it would take a lot of dev work to get it running smoothly. Maybe instead of a custom one, maybe a selection from some pre-determined words. Xbox. Console. System. Ect...

 

Nintendogs on DS would let you personally name your dog by saying it 3 - 5 times and then recognising it in future when you speak to your dog by saying it's name. It worked horrendously.

I could similarly be amused by saying "Dana, Snap out of it!!" Although I'm not sure I'd want to know what my X1 did at that point... X)
